No one else can effectively compete when two companies are cornering the market.

When two companies are the only two they can jack prices for all of us. The only winners would be the big companies. We the consumer would be the losers. Sprint offers excellent awesome plans (I'm thinking boost) for the consumer so big red and evil at&t are kept at a lower rate for their service.

What about the Sirius/XM merger. Government allowed that to go through.

While I would not have approved that merger, satellite radio does compete with other forms of radio: AM/FM/HD radio and Internet radio. So, consumers do have access to substitute goods.

Additionally, satellite radio is really just a luxury good. Wireless voice & data, on the other hand, are practical necessities for many consumers & businesses.

I want this to go through. Sprint needs the rude awakening. That thier current business plan is ineffective and they need to adapt or risk being bought. Prices will only go down that thier is only 3 companies now. I dont see why everyone thinks it will skyrocket.. it wont. AT&T will have to give BIG concessions and tmobile customers will get the option to leave contract free... and if sprint and Verizon play right they can gain ALOT of customers.
