This is all that matters. All the other BS you guys post about Sprint is immaterial. This merger does not make any sense.

you are right about that they do overlap in a lot of areas but this merger is good for a lot of reasons.. do i think it will go through? probably not. should it? probably.

What needs to happen is for this deal to get blocked, because the break-up clause forces AT&T to make some serious concessions if they can't get regulatory approval.

They would have to divest some spectrum that they aren't even using to T-Mobile and would be forced to ink a decent roaming agreement for the future.

Making #4 stronger is a way better deal for the American people then christening a duopoly.

yea i know what they need to do.

1. give up spectrum (key)
2. roaming deal on a wholesale level
3. $3b dollars.

i think it should go through .

I vote that the FCC give the merger a "poison pill" approval. Approve the merger so that the anti government factions cannot complain, but require so much divestiture of customers, spectrum, and network that AT&T cannot possibly countenance paying $39 billion for T-Mobile and has to pay the break up fee.

Yes, it does. If the FCC blocks the merger, plenty will point to that as needless government interference in the so called free market, and the FCC may take some political heat. But if the FCC provisionally approves the merger yet places so many conditions upon it that AT&T has little choice but to walk away, then AT&T bears the brunt of responsibility.

actually it doesnt. the FCC of course can block the merger and then AT&T would need to pay those break ups fees to T-mobile usa. FCC would probably not do that, because it doesnt make sense. AT&T is bearing all of the responsibilities anyway. a lot of the time there are conditions and the buying party doesnt leave unless a court order or a congress block.

Suffice it to say that no minds are going to be changed here. You're rooting for AT&T to successfully absorb T-Mobile and we...are not. This passing licks back and forth will resolve nothing. Let's see how it shakes out.

Azeron of course it don't mean jack what we say here, but we do it anyway. Sometime its fun to speculate, sometimes its even funnier to read some of the crap people spew.

well of course everyone has their own opinion. being a shareholder i guess makes me a bit more (optimistic) or more (analytical) if you will than majority of the people on here.

It makes perfect sense, unless you're pre-disposed to wanting the deal to go through...
