Delays that long usually mean, 'Oh crap we broke something and gotta fix it!'

Damn, I was seriously looking forward to this phone as a replacement to my Droid X. Now gotta wait till the fall, though that might be a good thing, if they can fix what they broke. Whatever that may be.

They scrapped what they broke, heating issues with the Etna. They tried to fix it, but couldn't. Now the Targa will be branded Bionic wich is rumored to have a 13MP rear facing camera and a 1.3 front facing camera as well as some other improved specs

And by then it will likely come preloaded with Gingerbread, and possibly will be upgradable to Ice Cream.

I say they screwed up when the showed the Bionic and the Atrix at the CES. The CES was clearly a way better phone and consumers say that.

Based on a lot of the forums I've read that was peoples complaint is that the Atrix is way better but that they don't want AT&T.

Moto say read into those numerous complaints and said "Ut Oh, they aren't gonna wanna but it when it does come out", we just need to fix it and make it more on the level of the Atrix of not better.

That's my interpretation. Plus there were errors they were having problems fixing.

What exactly are the major differences between the Atrix & Bionic? Other than One is LTE, and one is HSPA (fake HSPA+).

I said fake HSPA+ because real HSPA+ is 21mbps and above, ATT can never do anything right when it comes to the words "network upgrades".

Was really excited about this phone however, Verizon thinks their customers don't want one year contracts anymore. I've never kept a phone longer than a year, why punish those like me that want to upgrade every year? I was going to replace my Droid X with the Bionic. But their ain't a chance in hell I'll sign a two year contract with them. Verizon needs to be takin' down a notch or two. 👿

It's not a matter of whether customers want, or don't want, a 1 year contract. It's also not a matter of a company being taken down a peg. The majority of Verizom Wireless customers will go unaffected by the removal of this option. The people who want a new phone frequently enough to be affected still have ths option of retail pricing. Frankly, american consumers would probably faint if cell carriers did away with discounted pricing for contracts.

It's a shame the option is gone, but it doesnt take away anything but another option for the customer to not pay what the phone is worth. Big deal.

I have to disagree actually. Because not only is Verizon removing the 1 yr contract option but a few months ago they also removed the annual upgrade. Most people don't even realize they are using an annual upgrade on a yearly basis and with both of these options now gone. you get stuck with a phone for 20 months unless you want to buy a phone outright. I think Verizon made a very poor choice with this decision.

It's ok to disagree. The facts are that the majority of customers were not taking advantage of either option, the one year contract or the annual upgrade. And less people we even qualified to have the annual upgrade. But, Verizon is a business. One trying to make money. 2 year contracts keep them from losing so much money on phones and keep people from leaving Verizon as often. If you find value in the device then buy it for full retail. If you find value in the service, sign the 2 year, but please people, quit acting like you are entitled to have Verizon buy your phone for you. BTW, this has nothing to do with the original story.
