Apple Sues Samsung Over Galaxy Devices
Does anyone here think Samsung came to these designs by themselves?
Can anyone make a reasonable argument that phones such as the Galaxy 4G (with its rounded back and chrome bezel) came about through Samsung's own design evolution instead of saying "this [iPhone] is successful, lets mimic it"

Apple is simply behaving like jerks, which IS situation normal for them....but still.
There are thousands upon thousands of products in this world that look like other products but are not exactly the same. Example: Laptops all look pretty much alike. A couple of years later, Apple followed into the market with their variant of a laptop and it looked like others before it. Shouldn't they have gotten sued? Afterall, it looks like the others.
That is why I'm not a fan of generalization technology patents. It hampers growth and spurs childlike behavior.

2) You're arguing that Apple preventing other manufacturers from copying their designs inhibits innovation. How, exactly? Why don't they come up with their own designs?
Samsung is doing exactly what you fear Apple is going to make them do.
