Don't care about Nokia, don't care about Sony Ericsson, and I'm not interested in European wireless carriers.

I was under the impression that Phone Scoop was a U.S. news website.

It is, but because DT is the parent company of T-Mobile USA, I thought it was worth running. The deal may also affect U.S. wireless users down the line. You just never know how far-reaching some of these partnerships will be. It can have a big impact on networking and handset equipment costs over the long term, especially if AT&T acquires T-Mobile USA. You'll have a situation in Europe similar to that in the U.S., with one, larger organization wielding a huge amount of buying power and setting pricing levels.

This whole regulatory process is going to be very, very interesting. An anti-trust committee has a hearing scheduled for May 11. A company with 130m customers is just way, way too big!

I don't know how much you read the forum postings on here, but there are quite a few here who are against the merger.

I feel the opposite Jay.

4G is going to be more integrated worldwide as a technology. More so than the GSM/CDMA we currently have. This means that news that happens on the other side of the globe, can/will effect what happens here. It would be my hope that we could learn more of what is happening overseas. With competition dwindling down to few choices, both hemispheres need to know how to interact better with one another.

In my opinion, the segregation of our current telecommunications operations, is having an adverse effect on giving world's subscribers, inexpensive calling plans and fair pricing on handsets.

Consumers need more education on the wireless industry. This will help in keeping some stability and balance of control.

Up early as usual!

Well, the technology may be standard, LTE, but the frequencies aren't. 700mhz is as far as I know only being used for 4G in the U.S., Europe is on different frequencies.

Hopefully eventually when VOLTE becomes more standard across the globe international rate plans will be considerably cheaper.

Apparently you thought wrong.

Personally, I dig news from all over the world.
