This is going to be awesome, I can't wait for complaints about devices going into 'siren' mode at night and scaring the bejesus out of everyone.

In those instances one simply shuts the ringer OFF....

Because it will most likely be laying down at night, and is somewhat vertical in pocket.

The phone has a clock so maybe it's also tied into the clock and will no when at night it won't go "Siren" mode anyone. Who knows, they have a lot of time to work the kinks out of this before the HTC EVO later this year is released.

Other manufacturers and software makers have made the same mistake in the past (see: Palm Pre running 1.0)

The alarm didn't function if you turned the notification sounds all the way down. I heard about that one constantly until it was patched.

I'm just saying, that idea could prove to be a flaw, not functionality.
