All these phone companies are blood sucking ticks, jacking up prices, ETFs, forcing people onto two-year contracts with no allowances for an early upgrade.
The only reason I even came over to them was to get a Droid phone. If they don't improve things though, I'll simply go back to prepaid, since they now have Androids as well.
...
Yet another reason to select Metro PCS.
...
I would agree, but their data network coverage is abysmal where I live. 😢
...
Yep, Metro's got that Samsung Android smartphone with 2.2, 3.5in touchscreen, it even has a 1ghz processor, just wish it had a Super AMOLED display. That $60/mo bill is very, very intriguing.
...
Even the $50 plan makes sense.

If what you said wasn't true.
Woe is me, Metro doesn't have home coverage in my area.
...
You still have the option of month to month. Your just have to buy the phone out right. Somehow I just don't see a problem here
...
And may I guess the reason you don't see a problem is probably because you work for Verizon.
...
Yea, cause everyone wants to pay 400$ more for a phone just because the carrier wants to suck 2 years of their life instead of *only* 1. No excuse for this other than greed, lightly veiled by laziness and justified as "consumer demand".
...
And i guess you do see the problem is because you're a customer.
See how stupid that logic is?
...
This is why the relationship between consumers and reps for carriers is not a rational topic in these forums. It is always biased.
However, I will say one thing. My Sister in-law and her husband both work for the same large carrier. Both have said that of they were not employed by such carrier, they would not be able to afford their plans. Employees look at what they pay and fail to look at the normal consumer paid bill. The difference is staggering.

...
Yeah. When my bill was half off I had four lines just foe the hell of it. I dropped one, but I need to keep my data line so... That bill doubling was no joke.
...
I agree the difference is staggering. I don't actually get the employee discount that the big carrier reps get, i'm an indirect agent.
I opted out of the compensation line for a couple of personal reasons, but i pay the same amount as my customers do.

So true! 🤣
...
Why do YOU have to see a problem in order for one to exist? There most certainly IS a problem. The *Bleeping* phone is only warrantied by the manufacturer for one year so if you FORCE me to sign a two year contract then my *Bleeping* arse is BARE for eight months before I can upgrade. Is THAT clear enough for you?
...
Nobody is forcing you. Either buy the phone outright or get insurance.
...
Actually someone IS forcing me, smart*Bleep*. Yesterday, I had a choice and now it is gone. How about you shut the *Bleep* up and raise of my nuts?
...
Strong language, little guy.
Seriously, this isn't hard to figure out. if the one year warranty is your SERIOUS problem issue with Verizon getting rid of the 1-yr contract just get the extended warranty with verizon for $1.99 a month. $39.80 gets you covered for the 20 months on contract till you are eligible for upgrade AND its cheaper than the price difference of the 2yr handset pricing and the old 1 yr handset pricing.
But i doubt that is your real issue. You obviously get your jollies by raising hell at every single change that verizon makes, yet refuse to make any changes yourself. You're either a masochist, an idiot or a troll.
...
Sorry dude. Don't make me the bad guy because I want a choice. Get off my nuts. YOU'RE the troll. Someone who strolls through looking for a reason to attack people for being disgusted with decisions which CLEARLY are NOT customer friendly. Scram!
...
You have an outrageously large amount of choices. A very unpopular (within verizon) was taken away. You still have an outrageous amount of choices.
Furthermore, i was just pointing out the silliness of your one year warranty argument.
...
And really, if you feel forced into signing a contract, get the f*cking phone you like and sign on with page plus..... 🙄
...
No. I kept my XV6900 for four years. I am sure that I can make it five on this Incredible. I have this really nice data feature. The main thing that keeps me on Verizon really. That and the fact that I sold all my family and friends Verizon when I worked there...
...
Thats right, you have an oldschool grandfathered data package, right?
...
Yes. If they take that away THEN I'll have to go to Sprint for sure. For now...I'll just have to make baby my Incredible. Get a Otterbox or whatever they call it. *Sigh*
...
All electronics have a 1 year mfg warranty, you pay the price and you can pay that same price again in a year. You have the option to buy warranties on those as well. You don't get a discount on those because you aren't going to pay them any more money as time goes by. The ability to buy phones at discounted prices is a priviledge as is the ability to have a 1 yr contract or annual upgrade. While it is inconvienient for some that these priviledges are being taken away, I hope these aren't the reasons that people chose the carrier they choose. Price, coverage, customer service, these seem to be good reasons to choose a carrier, not because of the priviledges you get.

At another $4.99 plius per month. Greed, and well calculated greed.
...
Depends on what insurance you get, plus a lot of homeowner insurance can cover cellphones. Or just another $1.99 just for warranty, which is the point that Azeron is trying to trumpet this time.
Its actually cheaper to get a 2-yr contract phone and the ext warranty than a phone at a 1 yr contract.
...
Oh it is going to drive up ARPU no doubt. I think TEC is $7.99 now. You're going to need TEC or pop that $1.99 extended warranty on top of Wireless Phone Protection if you can make them both work. I can't get both to on line. I guess no more badgering sales reps on how they let a one year contract walk out the door now.
...
It's because it's yet another way for the carriers to make more money off us. I could see charging more for a one-year contract. But why eliminate it altogether?
The way new phones are cranked out every six months now, a two-year-old phone is a fossil. Why not just let people upgrade every year so they can have the latest and greatest, especially since carriers don't seem to like to give our phones OTA updates?
...
One thing is for sure...I'm going to have this phone for a loooong time. If I hadn't witnessed so many customers walking in with three or four StarTacs that they could no longer activate because they were not E911 compliant then I might buy a few spares off ebay, but I know how that goes. My XV6900 and Black Q just don't make good pinch hitters for the Incredible though. So something has to give.

effin' trolls roaming arond like gnomes in the yard.

Same here! The only reason I came over to Verizon was Android. Their network is way, way overrated!!! In the real world dropped calls do indeed happen on Verizon, and data does drop to 1x. So their "Network" advertisements are nothing but brainwashing prapaganda.
Why I left ATT had nothing to do with their network, but had more to do with lack of choice of ANdroid smartphones.
...
"So their "Network" advertisements are nothing but brainwashing prapaganda."
Talk about redundant...
Brainwashing, propaganda and advertisements all mean the same thing, Jay. Do you really think corporations pay billions of dollars to put on commercials that do not work?
...
It works cause people believe the advertisements.
But my experience… well doesn't match up to the superiority that the advertisements claim.
...
Personally, I don't have a problem with Verizon. It's just that I shop according to my needs. I don't need coverage in every bathroom in America. So I'm not going to pay for it.
If you are with ATT or Verizon, but don't need the coverage, you're paying too much. It's that simple.
John B.
...
Well of course not. How many people really put their network to the test. Unless you're a truck driver or a traveling salesman. You will know in the first week if the carrier will work where you need it to. But a cool T-Mobile commercial making fun of AT&T is just funny.
...
So you jumped ship from a carrier that network that worked better in your area for a phone.
Thats your fault, buddy, just as all the people who jumped verizon for iPhone complain about bad coverage.
...
To those of you still living in your parents basement with no job, I can see how this might be a problem. But for those others out there this isn't a big deal. Enjoy your horrible service with straight talk, or net10.
...
Funny how these big players are so brash that they would do this even as the government is talking about lack of competition with the ATT T-mobile deal. Guess what we can look forward to in the near future? News articles like Verizon/ATT raising their rates and they will simply say "people want to pay higher rates and we're just giving them what they want" as part of their spin. They know they have most Americans by the bal*s, so they can do whatever they want.
...
Not sure if this has already been asked and answered or not.
Please cite an example where Verizon has recently (I'll even give you 2 years) "jacked up" their prices.
