"Patent infringement lawsuits are common in the industry."

by Slammer    Apr 7, 2011, 8:08 AM

I'm ignorant of patent laws and the procedures of such progression of how patents are issued.

However, it would be nice if the patent offices would investigate the past filings further before offering the rights to these companies. Generic patents are still patents. Yet, if there is a conflict with the clarity of what can or can't be patented, the offices should revise the standards and also advise said companies of these patent limitations.

Whatever the case(s) may be, my question is what are they going to do to cut down the "Common" occurrences in the industry. Obviously, the buck gets passed down to us consumers and I'm frankly growing tired of hearing of lawsuits for patent infringements. It shouldn't happen if the rules were more precise and the office was not so inept in issuing these patents.
