I just terminated my Ovi account. I don't like Yahoo. I've been a long-time Nokia fan, but they seem to do everything they can to push me away. I'll stick with my N900 for a while, but the longer it takes Nokia to produce a nice new Windows smartphone, the more likely I am to switch to Android and never look back...

I doubt you'll never look back, things are hardly all sunshine and roses in the Android world, for starters there's the whole 'malware in Android market' thing.

Bottom line is whatever platform you're on, there are going to be problems.

Of course, I realize they all have their pros and cons, but I think the two most viable choices at this point are Windows and Android, and if I had to choose now, I'd choose the latter, because it is a more open platform and I have more faith in Google than in Microsoft. What's of particular importance to me is that I like to buy unlocked and unbranded phones from the manufacturers rather than from network operators. What I fear is that Nokia's Windows phones will be sold only through carriers, crippled and loaded with their crapware, especially in the case of AT&T, which aims to become the only national GSM operator in the U.S.

The problem with Open Source however is that it leads to bloat as feature after feature is added, simply to tickle the fancy of one developer who regards that feature as his pet issue. Each developer just focuses on what personally interests him while central, core problems get ignored for years because no one is really interested in addressing it.

I have to admit that a Nokia Windows Phone sounds very appealing....but there are still some things about Windows Phone 7 that will need to be addressed before I jump on the bandwagon.
