What business is it AT&T's to decide which App markets are available on the phone. Carriers and Manufacturers need to stick to their roles:

Carriers need to worry about providing service and manufacturers need to worry about providing devices. Sure, they can offer their own software solutions, such as how they have Apps that let you check your usage and the such. But, stay out of the decision of what software is available on what device!

I do agree that carriers should not exclude apps from their devices without some darn good justification. I despise the fact that certain apps are arbitrarily kept from my motorola atrix but in all honestly, they are not apps that I cannot live without. This is a positive thing that at&t is doing but suspiciously out of character. Seems like a ploy to cast a favorable light on them in their t-mobile acquisition attempt.........

If there's a call for change, why be suspicious as to why it was done? Who *really* cares at the end of the day if it was because of T-Mobile or because people complained loudly about it? Does it matter...No. As long as it gets done, who cares?

This looks like a good thing on the surface, but the underlying issue is one of control. Should the carrier be the one to make decisions about what apps customers are allowed to install? If they switch from saying No off market apps to allowing some off market apps, either way it keeps the customer out of the decision making process and gives the carrier control over their customers' usage. It's like saying the walled garden is under renovation and will soon be bigger and better than ever. No matter how great the garden gets, the customer is still trapped inside.

Yeah, but when is enough enough? If you think about a large enough scale...they could tear down the walls and there'd still be idiots screaming "I can't travel through space, I'm entitled to free travel!" Just like they did while "inside the garden".

First there are complaints because they say no, then there's suspicion cast when they say yes...I just don't get the constant negativity.
