Didn't Sprint...

offer to buy T-mo first? Now because they got outbid by deeper pockets, it's unfair, anti-competative, and unconstitutional? And, if they keep saying, "Duopoly" aren't they just saying that they are not competition? Duopoly means 2, but if I count right, Sprint, AT&T, and VZW makes 3. Are they just gonna give up if this goes through?

Well let's see... A combined Sprint T-Mobile would still be in third place. The combined AT&T/T-Mobile behemoth would be in first by 30 million. You can't see the difference there? Really? Hell, I am against Sprint buying T-Mobile either. If DT wants out then they should sell to an outside entity.

There is definately a difference, but it comes off more as "sour grapes." It puts them way back in the race, but as I said in another post, Sprint is gonna gain a lot of Tmo customers that hate AT&T. But at some point Sprint has to start charging it's customers. I think as soon as this purchase goes through, they need to raise prices, at least a little. They need the capitol to expand their network. Being the cheapest just wont do it to keep them in business.

...it won't go through or the terms will be so extreme that AT&T does not exit the fray without making considerable concessions and none of this swapping properties with Verizon nonsense either.

Sour grapes by Sprint? No question. I was blasted for saying that Sprint should not be allowed to buy T-Mobile and I surely do not believe AT&T should be able to. Hell, the jobs lost in the Alltel "merger" were bad enough. What happens when a company four times that size is absorbed? It's a terrible deal.

T-Mobile should have, from the get-go, ended up being bought out be someone not currently in the game who will take their profits and put them back into the business instead of sending them back to Europe.

Let me understand what people are saying, if a company is too big, it should only be allowed on acquisition or none at all? There will not be any shortages of other cellular carriers in the united states due to this. If anything, it just means that it should spark more competitive rates with other carriers. I didn't hear this much outcry when Verizon bought out Alltel. As for current and future ATT customers, if the company is smart, the will use this as a means of introducing slightly cheaper rates. Better yet, offer the current Tmobile rates to current customers of both ATT and Tmobile costumers. That's what most people are worried about. As for the service, they're about the same.

Then you weren't reading Azeron posts, bub. I saw the handwriting on the wall when my peers were cheering Verizon's closing on Alltel.

Finally, finally, why I'm not so upset about this. If ANY US carrier tried to buy into a euro carrier, this defecation storm would in sue, and you know what, I understand. I also understand certain, not all assets should be held by US corporations (not that they're great) I think telecommunications is one of them. At least majority ownership. Point is, TMO-US was going to be sold, its how is the point. Don't see Google, Comcast, GE, or any other company stepping up to the plate.

...and you won't. Once again, AT&T is willing to spend any amount necessary to eliminate a player from the board just as with ATTWS. The only hope is forced divestitures making the deal too costly to consummate. Even then AT&T will probably still go through with it because if they don't they STILL owe DT THREE BILLION DOLLARS!!! Won't the capitol come from the influx of Tmo customers?

The next 2yrs sure are going to be very, very interesting.

I hope it does, but are they making enough per customer to actual make that kind of capitol?

They offered 20Bil. and it wasn't that they were outbid, DT decided to decline their offer before AT&T even stepped forward.

Sprint tried to be the old guy at a yardsale talking something down and then feigning disinterest only to find out someone gladly paid the asking price and split with the thing he wanted.

Who are you? This is the second or third time I have seen you saying inflamatory things about Sprint as if you had a brain cell.

First, DT wanted entirely too much for T-mobile. Sprint offered a reasonable amount and DT refused. DT wanted far more the T-mobile is worth and AT&T coughed it up to simply push the Duopoly.

Second, Sprint is not some old guy at a yard sale. It is advocate for consumer rights. They are fighting because they have always had the best interest of the customer in mind and this megacorp will only serve to raise prices and prevent competition.

So before you insult a company that is trying to do what is best for the consumer perhaps you should check your facts.

It was on this sight and phonearena, endgaadget, WSJ, Huffington Post, Phonenews. DT wanted damn near 50% stake in the merged company and more than 25 billion. But they will only get 8% stake in AT&T. So check around before you brag and talk trash. I say block it because AT&T is already high priced with metered and capped data. They are so big now that Sprints plans dont really bother them. After this merger Sprint may and probably will cut unlimited 4G data on dongles and hotspot data. AT&T only gives you 2gig on the phone and Seven it is tethered or hotspot and 2 gig of that is for the phone.

What are you talking about?
The only thing that was mentioned on any site including this one , was that t-moblie and sprint were in talks. There weren't any offers made public.
I'm guessing what your talking about were statements for analysts saying how much t-mobile is worth???

Google it. I can link any number of sites but you'll just do what you can to discredit or argue against it, so rather than linking 8 or 9 different articles...Google "Sprint offers $20 billion for Tmobile".

I can give you a step by step instruction on how to use a browser and a search tool too if you'd like.

You know. Just in case you can't do it yourself.
