What possible reason is there...

What possible reason is there for carriers to allow data roaming on their networks? All it does is drag down networks and harm everyone's coverage....and it encourages small carriers to not develop their networks and instead leach off of the big networks.

The FCC once again wants to mandate policies which are quite simply bad business.....unless the goal is to make companies go bankrupt this makes no sense.

I think there needs to be a rule, no one can serve on the FCC unless they can demonstrate that they understand how the telecommunications business actually works.

Having the rules being written by a bunch of ignorant buffoons who have no idea how the business even works benefits absolutely no one.

This is like, if Major League...

I definitely see your point here. At this time I agree they shouldn't have to allow data roaming. However once VoLTE becomes the technology of choice then a roaming agreement would need to include data service as data and voice would be essentially the same. Maybe the FCC is looking ahead for once. Lol. Too bad they decided to look ahead on something that will hurt carriers (and in turn consumers) until it becomes a necessity.

In short, once VoLTE is used then it would be necessary but for now I completely agree with you.
