Now if...
They can price the thing at $499 or less WITHOUT a carrier agreement and give it HDMI out, they'll have a winner.

Indeed, I have been thinking of an Android tablet but those all seem to require a carrier contract, if the Blackberry Playbook will support all the Android apps PLUS Blackberry App World without a carrier contract....the best of all possible worlds and I will almost certainly get one.

If you want an Android tablet there are more options available with WiFi only than there are available between all the the carriers combined. Staples has the Motorola Xoom now, I have seen the Samsung Galaxy Tab in a WiFi only version (I can't remember where though.) Look around at electronics stores. They are out there.
BTW I'm not trying to stop you from getting a playbook, just saying there are Android options out there.

Yeah but the Xoom is more expensive than the Playbook

Oh definitely I just used that as an example because I got an email from staples about it yesterday so it was fresh in my mind. There are much less expensive Android options available. I only brought it up because you sounded like you would prefer an Android tablet. I have seen other Android powered tablets that are WiFi only at Best Buy, Tigerdirect.com, Newegg.com and many other places that are much lower prices than the ones that you can get through any of the carriers. The Playbook sounds great and it is definitely not an option to right-off for the right price.
