I don't see a point to the inductive charging.

I can plug my charge cable into my phone blindfolded with one tied behind my back.

Those charging mats take up way more space than an inconspicuous USB cord.

I have heard way too many complaints about loss of battery life and increased charge times due to the alternate charging method. This may have changed with recent versions, but it all still just seems such a pointless novelty.

I am all for technology for the sake of technology, but I just don't logically foresee this as a step forward.

Maybe using an inductive charging magnet on the end of a USB cord instead of the standard micro connection would make more sense. That way people could just snap it to their device quickly, but wouldn't have that huge ugly charging mat occupying table real estate when the devices aren't charging.
