I think everyone needs to shut up already!

I think all of you complaining about how AT&T is going to be " to big " should just shut up already. This is a business and life ran around making money! AT&T shouldn't be punished in anyway just because they were smarter then the other phone carriers & bought out TMO. Sorry that Sprints services suck so bad that this for sure will make them the bottom of the list. With AT&T & TMO merging together; it'll be LESS expensive & have a BETTER quality of handsets! Think about that. It's TWO companies merging together. They won't need to raise any prices, because they will have a combined customers ALREADY! I think this is the smartest thing for both carriers. I thin it's hilarious that people find it the problems of higher end companies, or compan...

AT&T was not necessarily smarter, they just had more money and the regulatory environment they're in is loose enough to allow such a transaction

Okay, not that I'm judging who's right or wrong here but, I think that this merger will be beneficial for both ATT and Tmobile costumers in the long run. Increased network, the customer service of Tmobile that I've heard so much about and the financial ability to further increase the LTE 4G network across the country. I'm not saying that it will all be peaches and cream but, it's not all bad either. There will still be plenty of smaller carriers who provide services options for people who don't want to pay the higher prices that ATT & Verizon both offer in services but, you also have to think about the fact that the smaller carriers piggy back on the larger carriers networks for increased coverage of services. They don't have to worry about...

att vzw tmo and sprint all have roaming agreements with other carriers and amongst themselves. a lot of people are making the "coverage" argument but if tmo and att merge the new att will be forced to divest some of it's new spectrum, hurting overall coverage. but how long will smaller carriers really last when they have less than 20 percent of the available airwaves? only so much spectrum to go around.

but you're right, the sky is definitely not falling, and the industry will probably be fine in the end. but with at&t and t-mobile being the same company, make no mistake that there WILL BE less consumer choices for rate plans, features, and phones, and all the lower pricing t-mobile currently offers will be gone in favor of at&t's higher ...

No. The sky is not falling. It is all good. If this goes through or not, life will go on. But we are going to cast our opinions on this and other forums.

Absolutely. Just because some people aren't well informed enough (or desire to be) to form a coherent opinion, doesn't mean that people aren't allowed to voice their opinions on an OPEN internet forum.

You are right about the roaming in a since. Yes, they have roaming agreements but, as far as any info I have ever read or could find, Verizon and ATT don't roam on anyones network.Which is why customers may not be able to get service were the other can. Example, when I'm in certain parts of Virginia, ATT. doesn't get a signal where VZN does and Sprint because they roam on their network. The same goes for the subways in the Washington, DC. Now, what I was reminded of after reading a few articles was, Tmobile roams on ATT's network but, not the other way around. At least, not from what I've read. It's not to say that they don't or it can't happen, I just haven't found any info to support that. I've never had my ATT phone pop up with Tmobile on...

I must agree. As a T-Mobile customer and employee I just don't see the point in all of you complaining. Hell us at T-Mobile don't even know what's happening yet, or what's going to happen so chill out. It might turn out to be the worst mistake ever or the best thing, who knows? Nothing any of us can do about it anyway but wait it out and see what happens.

you're right, nobody can do anything about it. it's undeniably going to be the best thing to happen to at&t and t-mobile execs, whether it will be the best for customers and employees is highly debateable. how many nextel customers enjoyed the sprint/nextel merger? probably more than the number of tmobile customers who are going to enjoy this.

I won't lie, a lot of the people I talk to aren't very happy that it's going on, but nobody has threatened to leave us because of it, so that's always a plus. Nobody knows what's going to happen with our jobs, though, since AT&T already has call centers.

you're brilliant.

the point is, not only will YOU be choosing to pay more with AT&T, but EVERY consumer (with every wireless company) will be paying more in the long run. pricing will increase with decreased competition.

you get what you pay for!
pay more for better coverage (att + T-Mobile towers) or pay less with less coverage with sprint, cricket, or metro pcs.
that is like saying everybody paying more for Mercedes. if you don't want to pay more, get american car! haha

and EVERY american is getting ripped off, including cricket customers.

check it dude:
http://www.three.co.uk/Phones/iPhone/Plans »

iPhone pricing in the UK. Seems to me you can pay £69 (approx $112) for an iPhone 4 up front, sign a 2 year contract, and pay £35 (approx $57) a month for 2000 min, 5000 texts, 5000 "three-to-three" minutes (whatever those are) and all-you-can-eat data (direct quote from the website).

Enlighten me, netboy. How much does an iPhone 4 cost to own and operate in the US exactly...?

iPhone 4 16GB 2YSA Pricing:
US:$199
UK:$112

Service agreement pricing:
UK:$57 a month for the aforementioned features
US: AT&T- $94.99 for 900 minutes, 1000 texts, and 2GB of data
VERIZON-$109.99 for 900 minutes, unlimited text, unlimited data

So regardless of whether or not you have an iPhone, netboy, if you were in the UK you would be paying just over half of what US consumers pay for the same service. Wake up kid, you haven't the slightest clue what's really going on.

True, AT&T is a business and it should be looking to make the most money it can. However, there are rules that all industries must abide by in order to run their businesses in the US. We elect officials who appoint regulatory agencies to handle the rulemaking and enforcement.

A good example is the EPA. They make rules on our behalf that regulate who can dump how much and where. It might end up costing those businesses a little bit more to manage their waste by-products, but that cost is necessary to protect us.
