on almost anything. I want to believe that the government really does want to maintain competition in a free market, but at the same time I'm nervous that they'll actually approve this. It would be GREAT for at&t and tmobile, i'm sure they would still have a lot of great phones, and i'm sure their network speeds and coverage would improve tenfold. But with sprint as the only major contender to AT&T/verizon, how long would it take until they were no longer able to even compete? Just scares me, as I'm sure it scares a lot of us who are actually looking at this from the consumer's standpoint.

The amazing part of this is, the wireless industry wants no part of congress meddling in their business, yet they are right their to cut them checks and lobby them for compassion.

Pathetic.

It's not just the wireless industry. All businesses behave that way. They want monopolies as long as they are the winning dog. If they are the underdog then they want competition in the marketplace. Self-interest and greed is the American way.

Sprint won't have to worry about the competition point. Verizon is keeping its mouth shut about AT&T/T-Mobile because it knows if that passes, Verizon will be allowed to buy Sprint.

It would scare me as an AT&T or T-Mobile employee. Someone's neck will be snapped to gain synergies. AT&T employees should already know.

As a matter of fact I do remember that merger and I also remember how the landscape of this industry was vastly different when the merger occured. Comparing the merger of AT&T with T-Mobile and the way that will completely reshape the competition of the industry is in no way comparable to the merger between Sprint and Nextel. Thanks for playing, we have a lovely parting gift for you.

i know the merger between att and tmo is way bigger but thats just the way it is...if u have the money u can pretty much buy wat ever u want ....does it suck? YES it does but wat can we do....but hey at least this gives other companys like metro pcs and cricket a chance for more buisness...

This mergor won't give smaller companies a chance at new business because most customers depend on nationwide coverage not coverage in certain cities/areas. The merger between Sprint-Nextel was poorly handled yes but that was under someone else's leadership (or lack thereof) but since Dan Hesse took over the reigns Sprint has come back from extinction and with that as a Sprint employee myself and proud to be one I'm glad we are fighting this merger because it's bad enough with other companies having a monopoly on other things in our lives we don't need this monopoly.

I don't agree with you about most customers depending on nationwide coverage. I think most people care more about local coverage. I live in Las Vegas… I care about coverage in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, and Boulder City.

i agree with sprint for the most part, but at the same time i bet they would get a lot of new customers if this deal goes through. think of all the tmobile subscribers who chose tmobile over at&t because of at&t's limited data plans and exorbitant charges for tethering

I agree. Tmo customers are bargain hunters, and with Tmo out of the mix, Sprint is the next best bargain with their $69.99 plan. The next 12-24 months will most definetly be very, very interesting.
