of course prices will go up, but you also get better coverage! i been to places where there' no att signals, only tmobile signals pop up. i unable to connect cus att wont allow it! after merger i will be able to connect to tmobile towers! NICE!
it' not about prices, it' about coverage!
i rather pay a little more to get better coverage. or you can switch to sprint with cheaper plan but with less coverage! haha

this is why ATT-Mobile is a good deal!
i'm sure sprint will lower their prices to compete! if people want better coverage, they pay higher prices for ATT. if you want to save a few buck, stay with sprint with less coverage!

And you are on crack if you think At&t has better coverage than Sprint...the only way they could ever hope for that to be true is for a merger like this.

I agree..I think the merger will go just fine..And for all those whining crybabies if you don't like it don't buy it or if you have AT&T or T-Mobile and feel pisssy about it just leave them,no one is forcing you to have them or any other carrier for that matter.

Thats exactly the point. If this goes thru they will be the only GSM carrier so they will be forcing you to use their service. Not to mention if this keeps up you won't have any other choice. Bell was originally broken up to begin with cuz they were too big, all they are doing is slowing sucking back up their peices and reforming like a damn t-1000 or somethin.

LTE having roots in GSM =/= Verizon becoming a gsm carrier. If americans need world service, they will have ONE option...which is NOT good.

They way things currently are, and always have been, world service has always, always been outrageously expensive. .60+ cents per minute.

Fortunatly now we live in a world where most international talkers are smart enough to use Skype.

So if the millions of tmobile customers who are happy with the coverage and don't need more, should pay more because....? They might be getting something more, but it's something more they don't need or want. But now the won't have the choice for themselves because cowardly politicians and greedy companies made it for them. Hope this fails.

In the press release they said they wont make people change their plans (Aka, pay more) so did something change? Why is everyone saying T-Mobile customers are gonna pay more?

You won't have to change your plan until you upgrade your device. I am just hoping that ATT will offer something like the Even More Plus plans because I have no desire to be held under contract but I know that these plans will get canned first.

I do not like paying higher fees but understand that its also a reality in business. As for higher fees, wireless bills have steadily fallen over the past few years with less competition. I remember 5 years ago with Cingular I paid $45 for a data plan, $40 for 450 minutes, and $5 for 200 text messages. My bill has steadily dropped over this time period. I think this merger will go down without a hitch but ATT will have to make quite a bit of divestures to get it through which they will do. Those diverstures will help prop up some of the regional carriers which can produce another option for potential customers. Also, ATT is coming at this merger from the right angle by stressing bringing broadband to rural areas which will look favorab...

Your perception is the perception ATT is trying to push onto the FCC and I hope they don't buy into it.

Prices have gone down with less competition because the carriers that bought them became large enough to create stiffer competition and engage in price wars. Eliminate all competition, and there is no point in having to regulate pricing. Your bill could go up at will, or it could go down without notice. With no competitive market, where could you go to free yourself from this practice.

Need I remind you that we already deal with this from the oil industry.

For those people the next best option would be Sprint for a bargain.

you're right, i bet coverage will be awesome with att/tmobile. Prices probably won't go up in the short term, i'm sure everything will default to current at&t pricing. But you fail to realize that over time, with AT&T and verizon holding 80 percent of the US market, prices WILL increase. Probably quite a bit. Sprint won't be able to compete forever when they're sharing only 20 percent of the market with the few other regional carriers still left.

What I wonder is how much room & tolerance do people have both emotionally and financially for more costly wireless service. That's what I wonder. If prices were to get higher, it WILL drive people away, no doubt about that. People do have OTHER bills other than wireless to tend to.
