Verizon said they weren't interested in the iPhone also !!
Verizon also said that a few years it turned down the iPhone when they launched the voyager...they have the iPhone now so obviously they lied...just like they know they would aquire sprint.

Very true... they said the same about the palm pre. This is just verizon trying to save face because they wont be number one anymore and Sprint is not going down without a fight. Verizon knows this. believe none of the media hype verizon puts out for now its just a front. After the purchase of alltel and expensive plans for their rollout of Lte Verizon has their hands full atm.😎

I mean they actually scoffed at the notion...repeatedly. I am sure that AT&T wasn't interested in T-Mobile either. I mean the idea is too far fetched for any reporter to have posed with a straight face...but it happened. This is how deals get done. You have no idea until it is too late. The Patriots steal Randy Moss for a fourth rounder right under the nose of the Packers. The Nets swoop in and grab Deron Williams without making a peep. If one telegraphs a deal then opponents can line up to stop you. I hate this deal and hope it gets smashed but AT&T was very cool.

We all know its only a matter of time before Verizon acquires Sprint. Soon there will be only two major providers of wireless service in the U.S.

I do not think it is a matter of time. But more of a possibility now with the ATT merger. Sprint still has fight in it and I think it will fight. Now it is anyone's guess if they will succeed or not. And over the last few years Sprint has done that with competitive plan rates and now great customer service. Everyone used to say Sprint is the worst. No one would have guessed then they would now be the best. With that said I strongly feel Sprint is here to stay and will give people reasons to switch to them. Like those to mentioned above. Because when it comes down to it. That is what customers want the most. And affordable plan to fit their needs and a friendly/caring person on the line to help them.

This is a chance for Sprint to offer huge incentives to the TMO customers that will now look for a lateral move in carriers.

The big incentives are already in place though.
1. $125 credit per line ported
2. Buyback program that works in store, with the amount going off of the phone or towards service or accessories.
The $125 credit covers any person wanting a basic phone to midrange smart device.
The buyback will cover people who keep cutting edge with their phones, getting an additional 150-200 per device you bring in, not to mention we can take multiple per transaction in some cases.
I'm sure they'll have a targeted bid for T-Mobile customers in future months/next year, but right now is even a great time to jump on board.

Great incentives as I know. however, Sprint needs to target Tmo subs directly to re-assure that Sprint is there. They need to relay the point in the similarities of the two.

Sprint needs to get its act together deploying WiMAX or what have you to more areas, because you can offer all the incentives you want, it ain't going to fly these days with hsdpa, hspa+ and LTE/Wimax. I guess its fine if you're in the market, some cities and places like Feces Face Arkansas, but not enough deployment.

Clear is the issue; Not Sprint. However, they do need to wrap this feud up and put it to bed. Time is not on anyone's side.
The point is, Sprint and TMO are equivalent in offerings. Those that don't seek huge carrier status, will indeed find Sprint a compelling alternative.
I just reviewed a post from a Facebook friend that was going to leave Verizon and switch to TMO. He does not need the massive coverage he thought he needed. With TMO being swept away, he has really found Sprint's offerings and coverage very attractive. He has said that he will wait it out for the results of the merge.

I remember during the Cingular/ATTWS merger that there was a lot of people who weren't happy and left as their contracts were up. So it'll be interesting to see how T-Mo's customer base reacts to the ATT merger, as peoples contracts are up. T-Mo's customers are the sort of consumers who like a bargain, and Sprint certainly offers a bargain.

I like the middleweights for the reason you pointed out. Many feel the larger the carrier is, the better. I found the larger offer more coverage than I need. So I'm not willing to pay for it. Sprint gives me the coverage I need. If I do happen to roam off the native area, I'm covered by not being charged for roaming. It does deduct off my minutes, but I'm never outside of Sprint coverage often enough to worry about it. The anytime, any mobile is very cool. I have almost zero worries with my bill. You wouldn't believe what I pay for 5 lines plus an air card. It's very respectable. I am paying a total for what others I've seen paying for only 3-4 lines.
Sprint and TMO are not for everyone, but it is comforting to know they are there to hel...
