Seriously?

It seems like people don't care to check patents anymore.

Normally I'm used to reading about how some company was granted some extremely generic patent such as "The ability to send mobile email" that I wonder who the hell issued the patent. But, in this case, these sound like legit, specific patents.

There may be only one method to do the described circumstances. Limitation of patents is that you can think something up and draw it out and spend some dough and have your patent, and then wait for someone to invent what you did and
    rape
sue their hides for ten jillion dollars. And all you did was draw out an idea, they did all the hard work of actually making it happen. Who deserves the patent, the person that thought of it first, or the person that actually made it work? Better question is, do ESS (a sound card company lol) and Conexant (a modem company lol) actually make these or did they just squat?

Does seem odd.

Example: Chiffons record a song and patent it. George Harrison writes a song that sounds just like the Chiffons, has it patented and makes millions. You would think someone would've said: "This song sounds too similar to the Chiffons". "Yeah, but this is George Harrison from the Beatles". Get my point? He did eventually lose the court case.

I'm not sure what to make of this case, but the name the larger companies have seems to have some uncanny bearing in patent issues. But I totally blame the patent office for not researching the archives for some relevance.
