I don't think any major merger like this is healthy for the consumer and I am an AT&T customer and honestly, no complaints. (and I don't deny others do have problems). But if it does go through, I hope to hell coverage gets better, and prices don't go crazy. (and not only AT&T's).
Only advantage I do see to this, is if one's traveling, I'm sure some alliance for roaming in europe and US for both TM(EU) and AT&T.
As much as AT&T can be assholes, they have always honored legacy plans. So hope it works out.

I think that's a thing of the past. Cellular One and any former AT&T Wireless and certain legacy Cingular customers have been notified they must get a new phone and pick a current rate plan or their service will be disconnected.
I have an AT&T Wireless plan (from around the time Cingular/Vodafone were bidding for it) that works well for me. I just received notification that my service will be disconnected on May 15 if I don't pick up new phones (SIM cards) and pick a current plan.
