So the whole country should be a patchwork of ripoff roaming charges so these cry babies can have their way? The inbred rednecks get enough in monies from cellular taxes to develop internet, towers etc... Grow up. And this has nothing to do with if I like AT&T, VZW or hate them. These smaller carriers want a free ride on the big four. Too friggin bad.

Didn't they move to block the last purchase too and everyone just kind of pointed and laughed at their efforts?

I'll trust a red-neck long before I would trust a Big Red Nazi or a Big Blue Nazi.

I am not sure you specifically know what you are talking about. I admit that there are dead areas where the Big TWO do not have coverage but service just doesn't work there. For all the years I worked at Verizon I never saw a bill with domestic roaming charges.

Now Sprint (current employer) does charge for roaming off network but that is only because Verizon does not allow a roaming agreement in those areas. For the most part the RCA and Sprint are on decent terms. This is in fact just AT&T trying to gain a leg up on big red without a concern for the free market economy or our own cell phone bills.

Someone would have to be on an antiquated as hell rate plan with Evil Red to have roaming charges. It happens... When I worked there I would get people holding on to $20 PrimeCo plans or $50 1000 minute Digital Choice plans who "forgot" they were not allowed to go to Seattle when their home area was Birmingham. Beyond that the original AmChoice had a few US Cellular areas where it would roam but I never actually had a customer go there and have it happen. Still, it is fun to bash Verizon and I for one encourage more of it whether it has merit or not.

Actually, if you search article titles in here for the last AT&T 700mhz perchase, you'll find what I was talking about.

^ for example. That purchase had been blocked by the RCA and no one really cared.

"These smaller carriers want a free ride ..."

You never know what you can get if you don't ask.
