What about the HTC Inspire 4G. It is also slow. It is slower than the previous 3G phones that I had or the same speed. Never faster even with H+ sign on.

"4G" (read: enhanced backhaul) hasn't been deployed in your area then...

If you're in a 3G coverage area, then your phone will read H+.

You see, HSPA+ is a software upgrade to the existing 3G HSPA network. It has been upgraded everywhere, so your phone will show it. Your area needs the bigger backhaul to increase the speed.

Yes that maybe true but they are reports that ATT may have disable the 4G in the Inspire. If that's the case then they deserve to be sued because the phone is sold as 4G device.

Being sued? He didn't ask about the legality of disabling HSUPA. He asked why there isn't a diffence in speed in his 3G area, with his phone reading "H+". That's what I answered for him.

H+ is HSPA+ which is different than HUSPA. But once HUSPA is turned on every AT&T smartphone since the iPhone 3gs will automatically receive the HUSPA update

Well I hope so. ATT should be selling 4G devices if their network is not 4G ready. If my market don't support it, don't sell it here.

Or, you could wait until service supports it before you buy it, or you could be patient. Of course, if your sales rep was doing their job, they would inform you of all those things so you could make an educated decision.

I work at an AT&T retail store and I make sure to inform the customers at every point that the Inspire and Atrix are 4G capable devices, and that in our area 4G isn't available yet, and let them make the decision from there. I would expect the same from a Verizon store letting the customer know that when they have LTE capable devices that if the customer is in an area with no LTE, they won't receive the speeds. Simple as that. Most people want the Inspire and the Atrix for their features and hot-off-the-pressness, not wholly for the immediate 4G data speeds. If you want fast data, go for the Samsung Captivate over the Inspire.

HTC Inspire: .65 Mbps

I just ran a speed test on my Atrix in Saint Paul MN and pulled 2Mbps down and 0.08Mbps Up. Not bad at all.

Haven't run the test on it yet from our store, but as soon as I get the app on there and get some numbers together I'll post them.
