I do not even want to think how phone prices, plans, etc., will suffer because of this. Subscribers are shafted enough.

Maybe in the long run phones will increase in price.

Maybe.

However for right now just because Hesse said we are moving forward with WiMax and Clear as a partner I doubt it will sky rocket.

Also, while I would rue the day that they announced us operating three networks (oi vey) this does not rule us out from operating LTE, or consolidating with T-Mobile. His statement was as directed in some areas as it was broad in others. We have many options, but all of the options we are choosing to continue with Plan A.

I doubt this costs the consumer an arm and a leg, as the service doesn't cost nearly that much now.

Hope you are right. LTE on phones and Wi-Max on embedded devices sounds the most logical way to go.
Intergrating 2 different technologies (CDMA/GSM)
is going to cost and I hope that does not get passed to consumers.
Taxes and over-inflated fees are already enough on post-paid plans.
Sprint already has a bad enough reputation, I hope they do not stain it further.

"I hope that does not get passed to consumers"

Count on it. That's what consumers are for. When people stopped spending money did you notice they were 'giving' them stimulus money in hopes that they would spend it? They bailed the banks out in hopes that they would continue to lend so that consumers would spend it. That's what consumers do: Drop worthless green paper in someone else's hand. We don't SAVE anything. So if I am a company as long as a fool and his money are soon parted...the money should fall into my hands.

The cost will be passed on, but it won't be any worse than the previous hybrids that Sprint made for iDEN/CDMA, and those were unique to Sprint alone. CDMA/GSM hybrids exist today, and are even sold at Verizon and Sprint as we speak. They tend to be a bit pricey but that's because they're smart phones.
