WiMax sucks!
I've never experienced any better speeds than 3G with WiMax, it can't penetrate buildings very well, it chews up your battery, and if you get a 4G phone they strap on an extra $10 charge for this crappy excuse for high speed data! 👿
This is most defiantly Mr. Hesse's fist misstep in awhile.
I'm just pissed that I'm locked into a contract for my Mi-Fi and live in a crappy WiMax coverage Area when the other carriers have better high speed coverage. ☹️

I think the 2.5 GHz frequency is more to blame than the technology itself.

The issue is cell site density as much as it is BRS 2500/2600 MHz propagation. Clear has not co located on every Sprint cell site. So, in many 3G/4G markets, Sprint PCS 1900 MHz site density is currently greater than Clear BRS 2500/2600 MHz site density. And that leads to inconsistent WiMAX coverage.

Mi-Fi is 3G only. What does that have to do with 4G or WiMax?

That's not a Mi-Fi. A Mi-Fi is 3g only for now.

That is an Overdrive.

Right. the MiFi is 3g only. You just linked to the specs for the overdrive. Those are two different products.
MiFi is a product made by Novatel, not a generic name for a personal WiFi hotspot. Like calling all gelatin dessert "Jell-O".
You said you had a 4G MiFi.... which don't exist. He was right to correct you.

Now, feel free to complain about your OVERDRIVE!

I don't talk about my Ford... because I drive a Jeep. See my logic?

I am a happy user of sprints WiMax. I used to have not so great service in my building. Then when sprint fired up 4g my 3g service got a huge boost. I am using my evo right now as my main ISP. I just did a speed test and this is my result.

7mps download that is better then comcast many a times. Though I am sure there isnt as many users sharing my 4G then people sharing comcast.

I live in an old school building that was built in 1931 and its all brick. WiMax appears to penetrate great. I canceled comcast and now I am saving $35 a month. Do some research before you buy...
