GSM & CDMA would be another headache to Sprints lineup of CDMA/IDEN/Virgin/Boost etc. etc. etc.

Sprint was headed toward LTE anyway. They can plan to meet there in a few years.

By then they might as well skip LTE and go straight to LTE-Advanced. With how fast Tmo's HSPA network is moving in 2yrs HSPA+ & LTE-Advanced will probably be close to 200mbps.

Damn the next 2yrs are going to be so, so exciting in the wireless industry!. . . .

Azeron is correct. The premise and focus, is on the 4G networking. Forget about the conflicts of the two 3G platforms. These will "Mostly" replaced in the next few years. The ease of remaining a divisional wireless carrier until the common 4G platform is complete, is attainable. Both will engage a great foothold on the marketshare. Sprint's footprint of 4G, is already double of the nearest competitor. A union between the two, could prove a very prominent force as they join in building out the network.
