"Verizon said it initially offered iPhone users unlimited data for $30/month because it didn't want to dissuade customers from buying the iPhone"

But now that you already have one, we thought, hey why not make you pay more money 🤣

Yeah, but it's nothing new to the iPhone sheeple. They'll continue to shell out their cash and go along their merry little way.

I was just messing around, I know it's for Android phones as well but the guy I was responding to seemed to be making fun of those who own the iPhone because of tiered data.

FYI, Not all iPhone users are "sheeple." Do you think everyone that owns an Android phone is a very conscious, tech-savvy consumer, and that they don't have a blinding love for Android as these "sheeple" do for iOS? Get real

Of course, some are and only love the iPhone for the logo on the back, and will blindly swallow anything Steve Jobs and co. shove down their throat. That doesn't mean that the iPhone 4 is a great, worthy device and many people that own them gave Android a fair amount of consideration.

In short, generalizing is for idiots.

If you already have an unlimited plan, you're grandfathered in.

are they gonna honor all gradfathered plans or are they gonna make you choose one of the tiered data plans?

If you signed a contract saying you have unlimited data, I'm pretty sure that they CAN'T change it without your permission or they would be violating their side of the agreement.

That's what I believe anyway, I'm not a lawyer so I could be way off. There could be tiny stipulations in the contract that the average person doesn't care to read over carefully.

All I know is, Verizon tries to take my unlimited data away from me and my wife, we are going to have some issues.

nobody is losing their unlimited data plans, like said above your grandfathered in and that includes everyone that has activated or will activate a smartphone till they say "hey, we have tiered data."

Once you have it, keep it. Even you ppl that use less than 100mb a month and think you that need it..

Why do people think that the "contract" holds the carrier to not change anything on the plan? All that says is that YOU aren't going anywhere for 24 months without paying an ETF to offset the carrier's subsidy loss. THAT's the trade.

Your carrier can "change any terms, conditions, rates, fees, expenses, or charges regarding your service at any time." or let you out of your contract if the change is significant.

That being said, VZW won't change anything to existing customers. They're smarter than that.

I hope more people in this forum read this. They are basically saying verizon cannot change anyones grandfather plan and current customers who get a new phone are still grandfathered in. I also think verizon is smarter than this but I wont rule it out completely until the plans are announced.

In the service terms and agreement book, it typically will say a provider reserves the right to change plans prices at any moment they wish. Grandfathering is just being nice.

No. Just as AT&T's data customers with unlimited plans are grandfathered so will VZW's. I don't understand why people insist on twisting things.
