Why does it cost 69.99 for unl talk when this device offers it on the SAME network for 19.99?
Shouldn't vzw bring the price down on the regular cell plans??? What difference does it make if I call from my home or the road, same network same tech??? wth?
I know I could install this in my car but seems like a hassle! Just to get cheap unl calls, use Speakerphone or a headset 🙂

Its like the reason why a 2liter coke is $0.99 but a 20oz is $2. It costs the company slightly more for the larger bottle but charges more for the smaller one for convenience and demand.

It may have something to do with the home phone system only needing to access about 3 towers as opposed to potentially all of the carriers towers. You also didn't factor in that this is essentially an add-a-line. You can't have this without having another line and you can add lines for cheaper than your initial line as well.

This is NOT an add-a-line, it is $20 per month for unlimited, even for brand new customers.
There's something else going on here. If it were just about roaming, then prepay (which doesn't roam) would have a $20 unlimited plan. They don't. So, the only possible conclusions I see are:
1. Verizon can make money on unlimited minutes for only $20 per month, and the rest of us are suckers for paying more to carry a cell phone around.
or
2. Verizon is selling this at a loss to push landline service out of business for future profit potential.
or
3. Verizon desperately needs to increase it's subscriber #'s for some bogus financial reason:
a. They want to impress wall street with some giant increase in subscribers
b. They want to ...

Sure they COULD make a profit at a $20 price point, but they can make a LOT more profit at $69.99. Does that make sense to you? Yes, the consumer is being raw *Bleeped* without a kiss or Vaseline. But that's OK. Really. You'll get used to it. And if you don't who cares? They still get away with it.

Very well stated. I would suspect reason 2 as their intentions. I work for verizon a while ago, during training, they made it no secret and were not shy about letting us know that the company seeks to be and stay number 1 and whatever cost it seemed like. 😈

Some have though that I've been off-base with this for a long time. I've had people tell me that minute allowances, per-minute costs and overages are still relevant in this business.
This program shows that $20 for unlimited domestic calling on a wireless network is a feasible price plan. Otherwise, why would they bother?

Of course. We know that Verizon reseller, Page Plus is able to pay Verizon AND provide unlimited text and talk to its customers to use Verizon's network for $45. So we know that Verizon could make a profit at less than that amount. SMS/MMS costs them nothing and cellular minutes less than pennies. It is PURE PROFIT. One can get angry or sad but bottom line is nothing's going to change.
