Just so you know, there is a zoom indicator in the camera function

In the bottom left corner, the third item is the zoom indicator. Starts at 1.0x, but displays arrows (up or down) to the right of it, indicating whether you can zoom in, out or both.

Perhaps this is something that the Cingular 8125 version of the Wizard has that the T-Mobile MDA version does not. I can certainly attest that my Cingular does in fact have a zoom indicator right on the main screen of the camera display and I didn't have to turn it on or do anything special to get it there--it was there by default.

Since I've never had/seen a live MDA (just the plastic demo versions in the T-Mobile stores), I cannot say for sure if they are lacking this indicator (which is certainly possible).

Nope, it's on the MDA asswell. Suprised Phonescoop didn't see it. Good review nonetheless, though.

I hate/love my MDA.

out of curiosity, when you're using a digital camera, what sort of indicator do you expects when you're zooming in and out?

i expect some sort of graphical indicator. generally one of a line indicating both ends of the camera's zoom abilities and some way of indicating where on that line i am.

i am not surprised i missed a tiny number in the corner that is one of many numbers and symbols in that corner. although i admit i am wrong that there is *no* zoom indicator. i would still say there is no obvious or useful one.

is that honestly where you would look for a zoom indicator? if so my hat is off to you. and please let me know what kind of digital camera you use so that i can get used to that paradigm.

For myself, I'm not sure it has anything to do with what digital camera I use. In fact, for most of the digital cameras and camcorders I've used in the past, the only "zoom" feedback I get is a WT (wide telephoto) scroll bar.

When I see something that says 1.0X on a camera display, I pretty much presume that it is referring to the zoom level (since simple digital cameras have a fixed range of zoom levels (1.0, 1.2, 1.4, etc.). However I certainly can understand missing it--it is pretty small and drawn with a thin LCD font, so it's not too terribly difficult to miss.

Hey, I appreciate the review, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying, I looked around on the display and saw the 1.0x thing pretty much right away. I'm awesome, though. So it might just be me.

ZING! Your turn.

I found the zoom just by pressing the navigation control up and down on my 8125. Don't be afraid to press some buttons!
