...this will benefit Windows7 more than it will benefit Nokia.

Nokia still has a strong presence in Eastern Countries but has been losing ground to Android and ios devices.

Windows on the other hand, will be able to substantially increase their global footprint through this move while Nokia is still viable. Good move for Microsoft. I just hope Nokia is not putting all the eggs in one basket.

At first when I saw this, I thought OMFG, but, actually it makes sense. Well except for the Meego thing.

Couldn't agree more. Nokia is still crazy popular over seas. Putting a Windows Phone 7 in the place of Symbian is going to work so well for Microsoft. Although I am surprised Nokia didn't jump on the Android bandwagon...kind of glad they didn't...

With the domination of Android, I too asked the question why not Android? I would hope they are open to it just for the shear common sense to offer choice to their customers.

Then I also think that Nokia may not want to follow the Status Quo. Concentrate to be the best choice for a windows device. HTC, in my opinion, has always been the apogee of windows devices. With them turning most of their attention to Android, Nokia's direction may be to fill the void and become Microsoft's workhorse.

I do feel your thoughts are legitimate. Nokia has been such a top player in quality. I would hate to see them dump themselves down the crapper. Let's hope they can market themselves strong as still being a viable choice.

Not including euro and other markets. Nokia and AT&T in the past have worked together seeing AT&T has weaned themselves off an all fruit diet, and seems fairly committed to the WP7 platform. I can see them getting into this.

Very nice take.

While I think this move is more beneficial to Microsoft, there is the added bonus for Nokia to gain more US footprint through this union. I say this because Microsoft is more recognized in the US and will be easier to adapt to than Symbian.

The trump card is Android. It has gained a huge momentum around the globe. This will hurt Microsoft's marketshare potential. But again, Nokia stands to gain more presence in this country with Windows tied to it.

I wonder if a future merger is in the realm of possibility?

I would love to see that happen just to see Nokia make a portable gaming hardware series, good possibility given the xbox live integration with WP7. Especially now that Sony is in full support of android with playstation gaming on the new xperia. Can you imagine a portable xbox phone with live multiplayer and netflix streaming? Like, an LTE ngage that doesn't suck. What a concept. They should call it the Xport. I'm going to copyright that.

Never really thought Ngage at least here in the US took off. Sort of a good concept, but failed.
