Good news Apple critics! You were right!

Nobody cares about the iPhone anymore, it's old, outdated and no longer a viable option for anyone!

Er... wait, did you say they sold out of pre-orders in 2 hours at 3AM on a thursday morning???

Damn.

Never mind, maybe the iPhone 5 will be the outdated and undesirable option you're all looking for.

Nothing better than hoping someone else fails for no reason at all!

Actually they didn't sell out of preorders in 2 hours. They sold the most units that they ever have in those 2 hours.

Also, the critics of Apple's iPhone point out the flaws in the device itself. What they ignored or underestimated is how good marketing can really push an ok (not phenomenal) device. And, let's face it... it's not the devices themselves that sells Apple (though they are decent devices), it's the brand name and marketing.

Don't get me wrong, I see your point. I just happen to disagree with the last part of your statement;

it's not the devices themselves that sells Apple (though they are decent devices), it's the brand name and marketing.

I really think these devices sell themselves. They are not "decent" devices, they really are phenomenal devices. They are amazing at 99.9% of everything they do.

Marketing only wins half the battle. A solid product does the rest. You can't market something as the best thing since pre-ground coffee and not deliver without a serious backlash from those who purchase the device.

If that were true then there'd be no explanation for people purchasing the iPhone 4 with the known antenna issues. They sold on the name and didn't deliver. People complained for a bit and they got a bumper and a middle finger in return.

Don't get me wrong. The iPhone does some things well, but rates extremely poor in other categories. I'm not saying that other phones out there are "perfect", but honestly, Apple has much more blind followers than other brands.

Except the iPhone 4 had noticeably better signal performance than previous generations of the iPhone and a LOT of other phones on the Att network.

You CAN make the bars drop, but only under certain and very limited Situations. Plus, with a 30-day, no restocking fee policy, if this where truly an issue people have the ability to return the phone. Some people did return it, most obviously didn't.

Marketing is an amazing thing. It lead to Android becoming a relevant OS for the masses, and to this day it is the ONLY reason Android has gained in popularity.

But a solid product keeps customers coming back. And the iPhone 4 is undeniably a solid product.

Partially correct. Google is a massive company that the population of the world has adopted as the foremost search engine. It seemed only fitting that an Android device would slide into the industry as a companion for the search giant. Everyone knows who Google is. It makes for an easy transition. The other reason for its success, is the open source. I don't understand why Apple fans overlook this.

The quality of Apple products has always been its strong point. However, The majority of the population of my generation decided years ago, that while Apple was more complia...

John B. EXACTLY. Both Android and iOS are comparable and excellent products. In the end, just pick the one you want. I own both, and honestly my feelings of which I prefer change on a daily or even less basis.

Ah yes. Marketing. I knew there was a reason advertisers get paid. Damn it actually works.

Of course mycool, but such holds true from everything from Audi's to Zithromax. Do you honestly think Coke and Pepsi are leaps and bounds better then other similar products?

One can also see Motorola, HTC, Microsoft and others having non carrier ads for their products, trying to do what Apple does. But, for better or worse, Apple is a master at the game. And must be the gold standard for those studying advertising.

I may attract negative comments for this post but I must say what I believe.

Critics were not so much dismissing the device as much as the consumers that have been consistantly running to the product without hesitation. If not for the supporters purchasing for the shear sake of consistantly buying the next Apple iphone, slack would have been cut.

Apple is set to release the new iPhone in roughly 3 months. The new iPhone will most likely have 4G capabilities of much faster speeds, allow voice and data simultaneously. Add in the factor that it will also have a more powerful processor and I suspect they may throw in a larger screen and other improvements to compete with the others.

All this in consideration, I render the iPhone4 a ...

A few brief items.
One, Apple lies a lot. It is just the way it is.

Two, I don't know that there will be a CDMA iphone 5.

Three, I don't know that there will be an LTE iphone 5.

Four, It doesn't matter why consumers buy a product...just as long as they continue to buy it.
