about a Verizon iPhone since it is 3G and most Verizon subscribers who have or want to get a smart phone, want a faster non-proprietary device running on a 4G network?

Hey floex are you reffering to the same apple product as in the iphone 4 that sucks. The placement of the antenna is terrible. That is the greatest thing verizon did was make apple change the placement of it.

I,ve been with Vzn alnost a full yr, and I don't consider them to be as reliable as they claim. Data drops from 3G to 1x quite a bit throughout each day, and guess what, dropped calls do indeed exist on the supposed "America's most reliable network"

So I don't think Vzn is reliable.

Not entirely sure yet. I have 3 lines, a whopping $198/mo. One thought I have is minusing my mother and roommate. And maintaining a single line. Not sure yet though. My mother pays $60/mo and I pay the rest. It's a real lot!!!

So anyone who buys an iPhone is an idiot that doesn't know what the difference is between 3G/WiMax/LTE. If that's how you want to look at it, more power to you.

I work at Best Buy Mobile, have been in mobile sales for several years so I like to think I know a thing or two. I have had Android since the moment it debuted on a phone (G1) and also an HTC Evo. Now that the iPhone is on a more reliable CDMA network I definitely plan on making the jump to the Verizon iPhone 4. I have nothing against Android, it's a great OS (albeit severely fragmented) and I've thoroughly enjoyed it. I happen to like the iPhone better. More apps and games than Android (for now) and overall just a more reliable os. The glass on both sides may hurt reliability, bu...

It is all about the user. I would never even think of getting it since my next phone is going to be a LTE phone. But, my wife on the other hand is a different story. It is perfect for her. She will barely use any data related stuff so she has absolutely no need for 4g. She loves her ipod touch for music, and doesn't really like my droid. So she is going to ditch her touch pro 2 and ipod touch for the iphone. So in essence for her it is perfect.

Evrodude, you have to understand people for this to make sense. Most of us here know about the advantages of other devices. I am not going to spend time here bashing the iPhone, let's be honest, the iPhone changed the game and became iconic (Hey Mr Jobs, here is one for you... patent the word iCon). But, in terms of power, price, capability, and competitive progress, it is far from being the Top Dog as far as a device goes. However, none of that really matters.

Apple discovered with the iPod many years ago that people buy more with their heart than their head. Apple products are what they are. There is no modding. There are no options. But, for many people, they are aesthetically pleasing and they do perform. There is a perceptio...

See, I work for a wireless company that doesnt sell the iPhone. I have the HTC EVO (that should tell you who I work for). But prior to working here, I was (and still am) a loyal Apple customer. ScribeD got it right when he said they are aesthetically pleasing and DO perform.

Everyday, I must lie and tell people how the Andoid platform is so much better than iOS. I also will not be bashing any phones, but iOS is MUCH more stable than android in my opinion. I'd hate to have to tell people that the native SMS app on android lags that it takes hours to delete a thread of messages.

I look at it this way: If your stated out with an iPhone, that's what you're going to stick with. If you started with an Android device, that's what you'll sti...

I have to agree. I love the iphone and everything but the iphone 4 is outdated and with Verizon having and expanding LTE and releasing LTE phones, I just dont see the point, especially with the pricing of 199.99 or 299.99 which is way to high on att or verizon compared to other phones on the market..Iphone 5 may have LTE and guess what...Iphone 4 will drop to 99.99 with 8 gig...wait 6 months for next iphone..there are so many other phones 3G or not that are more powerful than iphone 4...I just dont get it.

want a faster

What phone on Verison RIGHT NOW OR IN THE VERY NEAR FUTURE has a faster processor than Apple's A4?

non-proprietary device

What phone on Verizon is 100% non-proprietary? You can be talking about blackberry's, palms or feature phones, oh, Android? really? ROFL! I didn't realize Verizon (or any carrier for that matter) allowed you to do whatever you want with your Android... Android is NOT open to consumers, it is open to handset manufacturers. BIG difference.

running on a 4G network?

Wait, what phones are out right now with 4G? I mean, I know there are phones that have been announced, but unless I'm completely out of line, Verizon ...

Ever heard of rooting? I guess not. My Android phone is rooted and I can do whatever the hell I want with it without a manufacturer or carrier telling me what I can and cannot do.

So uh... By your definition of "non-proprietary" the iPhone is also "open".

I mean, I can jailbreak my iPhone aka "root"

Don't hate just to hate.

Different concept, but nice try there. Let's continue, most of the smart phones today and even feature phones, come with a micro-USB connector and a standard micro-USB cable. Your beloved iPhone still comes with a proprietary dock connector requiring a proprietary USB cable.

Name a SINGLE difference.

Just one.

Neither one of those options are approved by the carrier, in fact, the manufacturers/carriers are constantly updating their software and hardware to prevent jailbreaking and rooting.

You're idea that Android is better because it is more "open" for the consumer has no merit in theory or practice.

There are a lot of reasons to like Android, "openness" is far from one of them.

I bought the phone straight up for the full market price, no contract and no subsidies. The phone belongs to me and not to the manufacturer or the carrier. What do I care that rooting is not approved? A lot of customizing is not approved and yet it is still done on a daily basis. Car manufacturers and police departments do not approve of modifications car owners do to their vehicles but shops still sell parts and perform the modifications because the owners do not care about what manufacturers or police have to say about it. If a modification allows the device to do more than it can do with factory settings and it runs a hell of a lot better than in default factory state, who gives a ****.

At least I do not have to connect my phone to a P...

So again, your defending jailbreaking/ rooting, cool. I agree with you.

But really, there is no difference between rooting and jailbreaking. Period.

Your OP calls the iPhone a closes OS, but you say Android is Open because you can root it. With that logic, the iPhone is open because you can jailbreak it.

Your original post is obviously and undeniably biased.

If you don't want an iPhone, don't get one.

And read my profile, I don't just own an iPhone 4, I have several Android phones a well. I'm just not a big fan. Get over it.
