San Francisco HATES cellphone companies, why give them advanced services like LTE?

I understand it is a big city with a large target population, but, citizens there obviously hate cellphone carriers and especially cellphone towers.

Funny you mentioned this. an hour or so North of San Fran especially on the coastal areas, cell towers are hated so much, there isn't any service in some areas. Totally different mentality in that area

It's the same reason Metro had LTE up and running in Las Vegas (CES)--San Fran is a high tech area.

It's a smart business decision.

San Franciscans are most likely concerned about RF emissions (specious) and neighborhood aesthetics (reasonable).

MetroPCS' LTE deployment does not require new cell sites; it is simply an overlay on existing sites.

Another reason LTE gets to metro areas first is not the citizens...but the buisnesses and corporations who want/need faster MBB services. I live in an area called the Inland Empire and we have a city called Ontario that's bout 60mi east of LA. Ontario is known as THE logistics hub for SoCal and, therefore, a majir player in national logistics. Ontario got WiMax AND LTE as soon as Los Angeles did.

Also, when you consider 'Frisco's proximity to Silicon Valley it further explains why they would warrant 4G Coverage ASAP.
