google navigation is free!
some people prefer better gps navigation software!
that is like saying, you buy what? you buy water??? you can get free water from fountain for free!

Its a GPS to get you from point A. to point B. You should not need to be playing with it while you are driving. People are terrible enough drivers as it is. Not only is this stupid to pay $10 a month extra for something you already have for "free", but I just think that this is one more distraction for already crappy drivers.

Also, most people buy bottled water because they feel it is better than tap or fountain water. Google Navigation is far from second grade. Anyone who pays for this added GPS is just stupid.

How is someone stupid for wanting to buy a Mercedes?

Yes, a Hyundai is cheaper, BUT a Mercedes will have a better trade-in value in the long run and it will usually have less problems with maintenance.

Same with a GPS: you can use Google Maps, or you can use a paid GPS that will give you better directions.

Sometimes, you get what you pay for.

Verizons gps sucks. Have you compared the two? Personally google maps gps has never gotten me lost and it does in my opinion work better than verizons.

I have to argue your point. My TomTom and my Garmin both give me better results than Sprint navigation and I don't have a monthly plan for them either... And on top of that Sprint has horrible service in a lot of places I go so the Sprint navigation wouldn't be helpful to me.

Hmm sounds to me like Sprint navigation isn't the best after all... ๐Ÿ™„

But you need 2 devices for 1. ๐Ÿ™„ And Sprints coverage is Great for me. ๐Ÿ˜ What places do you go? ๐Ÿคจ The comparison was for navigation on a cell phone not garmin or tom tom devices which also cost about $100.00 and Sprintnav has no monthly fees. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Why is it a problem if I have 2 devices? The GPS stays in my car so it isn't inconvenient. And personally I like being able to answer the phone and still use the GPS for driving.

The main places I have problems with Sprint coverage is North Idaho and Montana. I know Montana doesn't have great coverage with any carrier, but at least Verizon has decent coverage there.

I have nothing against Sprint, but it is definitely not the Holy Grail you make it out to be DP. It has good value if they have coverage where you are and where you go but that doesn't apply to everyone.

The cost is a moot point because how much does a phone cost? More than a GPS if you don't have a contract. So that can't be ignored.

Sprint Navigation & AT&T Navigation are both made by Telenav. & from what it sounds like, would be a wireless coverage issue, & not a GPS issue. Telenav Supoorts Sprint/Nextel, AT&T,T-mobile & Verizon. Only for supported devices.
Also, if you travel outside of your zone on Tom Tom or Garmin, you need to download the mapping info for that particular zone. With Telenav, VZ Nav & Google, you dont need to.

PND's are great for areas without wireless coverage, or trails for hiking & camping. So I am not putting PND's down. Just explaining some of the Pro's & Con's.

Oh I agree that phones have some advantages over GPS's. The GPS maps are not a problem for me personally as I don't plan on leaving North America anytime soon, although I know they are for some, but if they are the international maps are probably a lot less than using your phone for navigation in another country. I wasn't trying to say phone navigation is bad just making a point that DP is dumb and that Sprint navigation isn't "the best"

Thats just a horrible response. There are so many flaws with your argument. Luckily people have already replied with some because I don't feel like sitting here typing all afternoon.

I will just say this. If you want to pay an extra $10 a month for a useless service, go right ahead. I'm simply just trying to help people out.

You Wrote:Also, most people buy bottled water because they feel it is better than tap or fountain water. Google Navigation is far from second grade. Anyone who pays for this added GPS is just stupid.

Google Navigation is not a highly rated GPS system, Yeah it works, but it does have routing issues.

As far as anyone who pays for GPS is stupid comment. Some people need to have an accurate GPS system, and are willing to pay for it. Your argument is almost as bad as saying if you pay for cable tv your stupid, because you can get free tv with an Antenna on your roof. A few GPS applications also get you movie tickets, weather info, Gas prices & ect. So it not just GPS. Google's Free GPS does not do that for all phones. P.S. VZW & Telenav G...

Uhm Let see. PC Mag did, consumer reports did. & a through MRM industry is is well documented.
I never sai the VZ Nav was perfect, and all GPS systems have their challanges. But I have never heard of VZ nav, giving anybody directions to go the wrong way on a 1 way Street. So for safty, VZ nav is better.

If you are the occasional GPS user, & you like Google fine. Im not saying Google is garbage, all I stated was industry facts! And Yes, On the Droid devices I am Impressed with Google Nav. However, I am not on any other devices.

I like Telenav (Sprint & AT&T Nav) a lot better than VZ nav. all 3 systems are good, & all have their challenges. Also the mapping info always needs to be updated, so that can also cause routing issues. I know Telenav & Google always add updated mapping info every quarter. I am not sure about VZ Nav though. Not to mention your device also makes a big difference in your GPS needs. Some devices have better GPS systems than others. If you also notice, Verizon GPS is all off of Cell site, & Telenav is off of Satellite GPS Readings. Google uses both, depending on the device. All of them are AGPS systems.

Yeah I have Personally seen SprintNav be the most accurate and quickest to reroute directions. The best part is Sprint is not charging a extra 10$ a month to use it and most Sprint phones have this enable. For the Google lovers not all phones have google nav and it also takes the access road often in favor of the highway. Google maps has the cool factor but Sprintnav is faster and sounds clearer. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

If you have an Android phone, there is a plethora of free applications that do such things. Such as, Where or even Places, which comes pre-loaded on most devices. Verizon is already quite pricey, it would benefit most people if they utilized the "free" features and apps that they are already paying for or already have. Thats my main point.

I also use Google Navigation all of the time all over the place and I have never had one problem with it.

I never said you would have any issue with Google nav. I stated known documented issues with Google nav. And you are right, there are a lot of applications that can provide you with any type of info you want. My question is to you, why have 3 or 4 applications downlaoded to you device, when you can have 1 or 2 that would do the samething? Granted sometimes it is not worth paying a paid application, and other times it is.

Well I just use Google Nav. and Places if I really need to. So I only use 1, maybe two applications. Both of which came loaded on my device. No downloads needed, no time spent fumbling between apps. Along with me never having a problem with either of these, I don't see the need to pay an extra $10 a month for an already pricey service. Ya dig?

For you than Google Nav is great! as I stated before, it is great for the occasional user such as yourself. Other people need a more Robust GPS application on their phones. So it may be worth them to pay $10.00 a month for it.
All I'm saying is conceder what your needs are before you spend money. & just because someone spends $10 doesnt make them stupid.

P.S. I dont pay for GPS service.

I've been reading pickles and your's comments and I would like to say that I travel on the road between cities daily. I have an actual Garmin GPS in my vehicle at all times and I also have Car Panel through Sprint which incorporates Google Maps on my phone. I have virtually seen no difference in reliability and accuracy between the two. Each have misdirected me one time or another. It is in how the systems are updated through other users.

If I were to make a choice on free or paid on navigation programs, Google maps is awesome for no pay options.

I haven't found one phone application that matches true GPS systems. But Google is pretty damn close. I feel it is a total waste to pay extra for VZ navigation in my experience. In this cas...

Slammer's one of the few Sprint posters here who's worth listening to. He knows his crap, and on top of that, he doesn't go out of his way to troll other posts.

The fact that you had to make a post that contributed nothing but your simplistic insults undermines any point you're trying to make.
