What's wrong with the *REAL* world? Nobody can communicate like human beings anymore. Are you one of those people that doesn't exist in the real world? Only online?

Odd that you make this comment on the Internet.

Facebook, and social networks in general, is merely one of many ways in which to communicate, and as such is neither morally better, nor morally worse, than any other kind of communication.


As for me, I like having options.

I prefer the sort of options that involve the actual voice, facial expressions, and the real world.

I make this comment on the internet because Facebook happens to be the topic of one of the news headlines on one of my favorite sites.

People made the exact same complaint about the introduction of the telephone in the 19th century, that it made communication more 'impersonal'...what a shame it is to call someone on the telephone instead of walking over to their house and knocking on the door...

But what about sociopaths like myself that have an entire Facebook alias, with friends that "he" talks to, contributes to pages, and aside from the fact that his entire life is a made up story, he seems like a "real" person that I use to fulfill some sick perversion of mine?
It seems to me that's morally worse than other ways of communicating with people...

I would say that such behavior is a sign of mental illness, but certainly doesn't mean that communication is inherently bad any more than prank phone calls prove phones are bad.
