iPhone HotSpot Feature to Cost $20 per Month

15 bucks for me
I pay 15 dollars a month for USB tethering/wi-fi hotspot internet connection with my mytouch 4G. It is something that I felt was a good deal for me to have an internet connection for my laptop in places where one does not exist or is very weak. It is also a secure connection, so I don't have to worry about others trying to get into my network.
I also do not have to worry about rooting my phone to unlock the hotspot capabilities and thereby risking contract termination and a warranty void. Could I root it? Sure, but why take that risk?
To some like yourself, having a wi-fi hotspot capability is unnecessary because that is not what you use your phone for (as you have stated before in the past). And that is cool.
But for others like myself and others who use it for business, educational, or other purposes, it is a great feature.
"Revenue mongering"? Cell phone companies are in a business to make money as well as provide the best service possible to their customers. I would hardly constitute that as "mongering", but hey, whatever works for you.
Bottom line: necessity is completely relative to the individual.
