iPhone HotSpot Feature to Cost $20 per Month

Just bcause you personally don't have any use for such a feature doesn't mean that no one has any use for it, and it certainly doesn't mean that the feature itself has no value.
Ex: "Just because you" etc.,
It's usefulness depends on true necessity for the user.
Interesting how people shell out money like it's water for mobile communication devices nowadays.
There are more sensible and necessary things in life than walking around trying to appear self-important by fiddling around with a mobile device.
Don't get me wrongs sure it is wonderful to be able to do so many things from the convenience of 1 device.
People need to get their priorities straight.
It is ridiculous what the mobile industry has become.
But as for me, a mobile hotspot would be very helpful, because I often need internet but cannot get it, or the wifi connection I can get is too slow to do what I need. The wifi connection at work is only 80kb/second, I often need a faster connection.
The problem is that the place I go where I might need internet, Verizon is the ONLY carrier, and they only have 1x coverage, not 3G. So a Verizon mobile hotspot would be a waste of money for me.
Now, if a carrier had 3G coverage around here....I would probably sign up for it. I moght even sign up for one of those 'Overdrive' things from Sprint...if they had coverage here.
Nobody is forcing you to use this feature. If you don't need a mobile hotspot then don't pay $20 bucks a month. This is a very simple concept.
I have a laptop that has a wifi antenna but doesn't have a mobile broadband card. I also have a Droid 2. Very often while i'm on the metro into work, i'll turn on my mobile hotspot, boot up my laptop and do work. Spreadsheets, powerpoints, inventory etc are all things that i need the internet for. For less than one dollar a day i can be productive for the one hour that i spend sitting in the DC Metro system. Completely worth it. Is it necessary? No, of course not. I could simply listen to music thats loaded into my phone, or utilize pandora.

I also do not have to worry about rooting my phone to unlock the hotspot capabilities and thereby risking contract termination and a warranty void. Could I root it? Sure, but why take that risk?
To some like yourself, having a wi-fi hotspot capability is unnecessary because that is not what you use your phone for (as you have stated before in the past). And that is cool.
But for others like my...
