Is it possible - AT&T
To take my current number under contact with MDN 123, have the number changed to 456, but keep MDN 123 as a month-to-month family plan add-on for $10? Then once that is done, have the MDN 123 ported to GV and then cancel the family plan line?
And for what its worth, my contact extension was done in December at Best Buy, mainly because the local AT&T agent was out of stock.

Well, actually you can. It's messy, but it can be done.
Step 1: port out your number to Googski. This cancels your AT&T service
Step 2: call AT&T and reinstate your service, they'll reactivate your service with a different number. New SIM card is required, I believe.

It can be done but it is generally discouraged by corporate because it can lead to abuses such as payment fraud and equipment fraud and the like.
In short, you probably won't be able to get it done without throwing a gigantic temper tantrum, and even then only an extremely knowledgeable agent would be able to do it for you.
