much more appealing would be the tethering feature verizon is offering.

The CDMA fan boys that say its not important is because they don't know any different.
Not to mention data speeds that are considerably slower.
The hotspot feature on other Verizon phones has worked just fine for some time. If you need something more substantial than a quick connection with your phone, you really shouldn't be using hotspot. The feature isn't built to be used as a constant connection.
And for the record, I've used hotspot AND on-device apps to connect to the Internet, and while a phone call (those rare times when I get one) means I can't use the computer, it's not that big of a deal. I'm not running my home Internet off a cell phone - I can stop what I'm doing for three minutes, or tell them I'll call them back.

If this were five years ago, this kind of statement would get everyone's panties in a bunch. Since 2007, when the path to LTE was planned out, this kind of statement has been getting dumber and dumber.

OH, and most people don't talk and surf at the same time. CDMA people don't miss it because we don't need it. I've been with BOTH GSM and CDMA and have never needed to multitask, and this is as a BUSY business owner.
