I Agree With the RTG but,
What else can be done? The two larger carriers have enjoyed merger after merger, aquistions after acquisitions. There is little or no other carriers with money left to successfully bid on any assets. Good- bye competition, hello duopoly.

Can the small carriers *really* afford it? Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile already passed...What are they going to do with a spectrum they don't have the funds to develop? Thats just the nature of competition.

The problem is that much like airlines, it is difficult to actually make a profit providing telephone service, the reason why at&t and Verizon are the biggest is because they provide stuff other than wireless, they both provide home phone, home internet, and home television service.....wireless phone service alone isn't quite enough to keep a company afloat. The handful of small local carriers that manage to thrive follow the same model.

Actually wireless is where the profits are. Wireline is a money pit.

Can't have it both ways, can't refuse to be a roaming partner, then not want to pay for such spectrum. All they can do is cry to justice and force the seller to take less money and then probably not even deploy it before the next century.

Do I need to start sueing rural carriers because of their terrible coverage networks? I am sick and tired of the rural carriers complaining about spectrum despite that they run the worst networks and wait for a major carrier to come in and make them rich with a acquisition. Stop the complaining and fix your own networks so that you can get competitive in the first place!
