They actually do exist here. They make feature phones for ATT and (I believe) Tmobile. They're not a big presence, but if the Arc is any indecation, they want to become a larger presence.
And US companies sue international knockoffs all the time, even if those knockoffs never make it to a market the companies sell in.

SE made some of the best feature phones on the market up until about 2008. Then I don't know what happened to them.

One problem they have right now is that they don't offer any cheap touchscreen phones. It doesn't make any sense because their phones are quite powerful, but the company is too stupid to use their own OS in a fair-priced touchscreen or QWERTY pad.
Look at the stuff sold by Huawei and LG. Those aren't even very good (though the new Huawei Comet has Android) but they are selling.
Samsung, Pantech, and LG all made a bunch of cheapo QWERTY phones. Nokia even made a s60 for a relatively low price.
Marketing is also a weak point. What moron decided that the company should have two names? I liked Ericsson's old products over Sony's, but even I would have the sense to say "let's just call it Sony". The clumsy name isn't a strong selli...

Sony Ericsson typically positions itself as a "luxury" manufacturer. They have some cheap devices, but most of the time they make products more advanced than some of the competitors and definitely tailor to the high-end consumers. I think because of this, they can't have 'fair-priced' touchscreens because they are (or were) not trying to attract those 'low-end' people.
As far as the name - what's wrong with it? Sounds better than "Huawei" (Hoo-ah-wee? Hoo-uh-way? Hoo-uh-wee?Ho-a-we-we?).

yeah..x10 is good.. and the arc seems promising..
i do love the name sony ericsson..it has some appeal for me..
like you are really talking about a good brand 🤣

I suppose Ericsson made a quality product... I remember the T18d back in 2001 or whatever. They should have buried the Ericsson name based on those low end *Bleep* phones alone. Seriously. Sony had a much better brand. Look at how SBC took then AT&T name. That's just good business sense.

They didn't take the name of just "Sony" because nothing was bought out. The venture is 50/50.

Sony Ericsson always was a mid-high range manufacturer. I think they could've gone a long way by embracing the QWERTY format (not helping is that a lot of their phones have atrocious keypads.)

yes they do on t-mobile and they are still making phones why dont u do some research before saying anyhting
