I got mine and I am just glad that I have a calander that works now. I have not and have no plans to "root"the phone. I am very pleased and happy with the update. It is not 2.2 it is a "bug" fix.

Just out of curiosity why do you not want to root your phone? Not trying to say that you should, just asking for curiosity sake.

I like having a warranty on the phone. It is like buying a new car and then gutting the motor and dropping in a different brand motor. There are some things I believe in not messing with.
I still don't see what 2.2 is going to do for me? I came from a Storm 1 and loved that phone, I still am learning this phone. LOve it!!! Again my .02

Very understandable. It is a little different than your scenario as you can unroot the phone for warranty purposes. Some may consider it unethical to do so, I am just saying it can be done. To be honest 2.2 does have some nice features like moving apps to your sd card (although that doesn't matter much on a phone with as much internal memory as the Fascinate. However right now my phone is rooted and had 2.2 on it not long ago, now it has 2.1 back on it (and I don't have a large internal memory like your phone.) I like parts of both and switch back and forth a lot. If you like your phone the way it is then I definitely wouldn't worry about rooting it. 2.2 isn't overly spectacular when coming from 2.1.
