Sprint already has roaming agreements with other countries. Glad to see more Wimax partners stepping up to the plate. 😎

So a couple of people (ok, 16 of them) had a meeting far far away and came up with this: 🙄

"The companies in attendance haven't revealed when a system might actually be put to widespread use."

Diamond now says it "Sounds like a Global Standard to me"

Thats it...LTE is doomed 🤣

Actually, this is pretty significant news. Obviously, It does not make it a global standard. But, it does present a nice step forward to expanding the international footprint through global alliances. The 16 attending will represent and benefit the 550 markets of WiMAX in 149 countries. Not really a bad number against LTE at this point.

I welcome any effort to create viable competition throughout the wireless industry.

I agree. I think Diamond meant that this would lead to a global standard.
It actually can lead to that.

Those are just the 16 that came together there are hundreds more Wimax operating networks. The more these talks take place the more larger the Wimax Roaming agreements will become. 😎

I never said LTE was doomed only that Wimax isn't and anyone who thinks it is not educated or in denial. 😉 Wimax will continue to grow as a tech speed wise and with capability beyond any 4g network. 😎

LTE being doomed is a joke. Of course it's not. I just get a kick out the silly arguments made either way.

Was it a good business decision for only 1 major US carrier to go with WiMax? Time will tell of course, but odds are probably stacked against Sprint for making it truly great. No reason to go over and over what Sprint faces with this. It's been done to death on here.

Heck I felt this way years ago with another carriers decision to go with CDMA. Phones were always better elsewhere.

Why the heck am I talking to you anyway. I guess I didn't see the sign that said not to feed you 🤣

Hey you do know that Airtouch and Sprint were the only major players who made the decision to...
