The cost of the iPhone data plan is the same as the price of any smartphone data plan, and in fact, for the first generation iPhone the cost of the data plan was lower thna for other smartphones, you could get unlimited data+200 text messages for only $20 a month, whereas for other smartphones the data plan cost $30 a month and didn't come with any text messages.
