Verizon's arrogance never ceases to amaze me. Thank god I live and travel to and from major cities and dont need to have those scumbags for my carrier.

I don't get why anyone would want to be a Verizon customer. The have some of the highest plans of the major 4, the cripple phones and now this? The New every 2 was already a joke and now they do away with it all together right before the iPhone drops. So when Jobs comes out with the iphone 5 in 6 months, everyone has to pay full price.

I'm not saying I'm happy about this change, but you can't call the NE2 a joke when it was more than was offered by pretty much every other carrier.

And if you think verizon actually makes ANY real money by selling phones retail.. you're sorely mistaken. NO carrier does.

And those are not similar, at all, with the NE2.

What does speed matter when you can connect? I've got the fastest car in the world, too bad I live on a tiny island in the middle of the ocean! 🤣

They do have the speed, quite a bit of it actually.

Tmobile's "4g" technically covers more people. it won't by the end of this year, and if you're not covered by their "4g" you're screwed when it comes to overall data AND coverage. (Edge is slower than EVDO by a wide margin)

With t-mobile you get a partial disscount after 12 month but it so close to the retail price it not woth the contract extention.
T-mobiles full upgrade is after 22 months and that pricing is either the same or more than what new customers pay. T-mobiles upgrade policy sucks 🙂

Agreed, what made NE2 special was that no other major carrier ever gave existing customers a better price than a new customer, and now verizon is falling in line with everyone else, instead of continuing with a unique program that gave them a competitive advantage. I'm sad to see my carrier settling for " in line with industry standard" instead of aiming to be better than all the rest. At least where this one program is concerned.

Verizon may have crippled their feature phones before (but nothing that a quick connection to a PC through USB and a few SEEM edits could not fix), but they certainly do not cripple their smart phones. They might charge higher rates than other carriers, but to me and others it is well worth it to pay a few bucks more per month and have good service rather than paying less and hearing static and/or dropped calls. If you are money-conscious, go to Metro PCS aka Metro POS. I hear they are now offering an Android phone with LTE for $50 or so. And a lot of people buy their phones retail or online and not worry about any type of contract.

is that this happened because of the iPhone. When AT&T got the iPhone exclusive, VZW instituted these incintive programs to keep people from jumping ship to go get the iPhone. Now that VZW has the iPhone, there is no more need for these incentives. Why are some many people acting like the companies are eveil because they are trying to make money. At least VZW puts their money to good use. They have some of the best phones. They have the best coverage. They will have the lowest frequency on LTE. These are all because they have the most customers and the most money.

What good does it do to have the lowest LTE frequency? Does that make it faster?

No, it means you will get coverage in more places. Better building penetration. Speed has no bearing if you can't connect.

Better penetration would definitely be a good thing. I get a rather unstable signal inside my house on 3G.

Well, because of that extra money that VZW is getting, they were able to buy in auction the lowest frequency. Therefor, it is impossible for anyone to get better building penetration than VZW. Now, again because of their money, they already have more coverage, more towers, than any other carrier. They will be building out their LTE network on top of that network, which means that they will have even better coverage with their 4G than they did with their 3G. So, beause of their money, VZW will have the best coverage with the best LTE network and the best 4G phones. I'll take the Thunderbolt and the Bionic over the Epic and the EVO anyday. So, BEST coverage, BEST phones, and MOST customers means I can talk to more people for free, have fast da...

If it was possible, thumbs way up for you. At least someone here besides me understands how a smart business like VZW works and how it REALLY treats it's customers. They are able to do all these great things because they don't give **** away left and right (sprint) or offer low prices by leaching of sub-par networks (virgin mobile, cricket, boost, etc). The money us customers give, they turn around and INVEST like a SMART business would. 🙂

I'm not one of these people that hate on "big business". They stared just like anyone else, as small business. Buy being smart, and reinvesting in their business, they have grown, just like anyone who has a business with a marketable product would. I'm tired of the "oh, I'm being screwed" arguement has about anyone they do business with. You came to them. Even if you had the worst sales person who explained nothing to you, you signed a contract because you wanted what they offer. No one held a gun to your head or told you not to read the contract. It's time people take responsibility for themselves. Research it. If it's not right for you, don't buy it. But know going into ANY purchase, that company will make money on you. They are not trying...
