No texting? Good luck with that on an iPhone.

I have an HTC Touch Pro 2, which has a wicked awesome keyboard for typing, and yet I don't use enough texts to require even the $5 plan.

Not everyone who gets an iPhone is an SMS addict. Really, I'm still waiting for an Android phone that's fast like a Bionic but has a Keyboard like the Touch Pro 2.

Offered By:
T-Mobile

Problem with that is:

1: GSM 3G phone
2: Slower than a Droid 2
3: T-Mobile's coverage is rubbish where I live

I'll be waiting for LTE 4G phones to be flooding the market before making my move.

Don't think it would be able to happen on Verizon's network. Some say they can do it on their droids, but on Wifi only. Not 3G. Maybe the next gen iPhone will if it has LTE, if I remember LTE will support this feature.

What thats dumb why have the iphone coming out at the same time you have ur LTE network being launched and not make it LTE.

Despite its launch of almost a dozen 4G phones for its upcoming LTE network at CES last week, the iPhone Verizon sells will use CDMA technology, not LTE. Apple's Cook said there were two reasons for that: the first generation of LTE chipsets "forced design compromises," and "Verizon customers want the iPhone now."

well i think if i was a vzw customer i would be getting a droid not the iphone cause who wants the iphone when some of the new driods are goin to be good phones and 4G devices.

well I think if I were with the rest of VZW's 90% customer base and not the 10% customer base that you represent, I wouldn't care about LTE and hop onto the iPhone instantly.

additionally, if I were a C-level executive for VZW and Apple, I'd launch LTE with iPhone 5 to maintain an a year after year increase in cashflow and revenue.

as a VZ stock holder, I'm happy either way :-)

I think you are grossly underestimating the percentages here. More than 10% of the population base cares about the technology behind the phones.
Even being a patsy for AT&T, I can honestly say that there are lots of better phones than the iPhone...

I'll admit that I don't know the exact demographics of iPhone users. as of 2009, the age demographics were as follows:

13-17 : 5%
18-24 : 13%
25-34 : 29%
35-54 : 36%
55 + : 17%

I think it's safe to say that the age group of 25-34 would care the most about technological features. So mebbe we can say that 70% don't really care much about the tech specs, which is still a big number.

Yes. How many consumers with dumb phones will now switch over to an iphone? If they can gain some traction there as well as divert some would be churners who would have left for an iphone on AT&T then this thing has accomplished a great deal.

I agree...this was just a "decoy" so to speak to do what you said...retain customers. The real event will happen when Apple releases an LTE version.

my guess is next summer they'll pop an LTE device out when both carriers (AT&T/VZW) are running it.

Apple launched a 2g Verizon iphone when ATT was making 3g. Who sais anything then, and look what the IPHONE did to the industry. People will go to VZW with its better network and faster speeds. Im a droid head for life but apple has a good phone and it will continue to sell millions over and over and over again.

It does not matter what it cost or what the bill is, people will buy it. Verizon has the largest network despite it is the most expensive. Same with DIRECTV it is the most expensive and has the most customers. You get what you pay for, ATT sucks.

LOL! Verizon is the largest provider not because they magically grew by 20M subscribers because their network is the shizznit, it's thanks to acquisitions (i.e. Alltel, Unicel, et al). The same holds true for those filthy jerkfaces suckin'-it-up over at AT&T (Centennial, Dobson, et al)
As far as "this carrier" sucks or "that carrier" sucks, come on man. Where I live Sprint and T-mo are a joke, and VZW and AT&T are kings. Where a buddy of mine on the west coast lives, He got Sprint and his roomates got T-mobile, since the other two worked like crap where he lives. It's all relative, friend...
