I agree on the OS being not ready for prime time. It should have had landscape support from the start.
That said, I don't think this game is a waiting game yet. 80% of U.S. phone buyers don't own a smartphone, but they will eventually. This is a very long game, and Microsoft has plenty of time (so do Nokia and RIM, for that matter).
4G is very exciting, but don't expect to see more than a small handful of 4G phones announced until very late this year. All of the 4G phones we've heard about fill the launch schedule through June. We might see more, but we're a year or so from complaining about phones launched without 4G.
Of course, I'll want my next phone to have some very fast networking capabilities, but I'm an enthusiast like all of you.
