Long-Standing Android Bugs Send Texts To Wrong People
So use Handcent!
What's the issue i have sent thousands of messages and using Handcent on my D1 Rooted custom rom, with 0 misdirected txt's so what's the fuss about?

I would like to know what models as well. I've have several android phones (granted they were all on the same carrier which is Sprint) and I never had a problem with misrouted text messages (and I text A LOT). Maybe the problem is random or conflicting with another app or custom rom? Who knows really... but if you do people post with some backup!

That's the issue with this "bug" and why it still exists.
There is no handsets it "affects" more than others, and there's no way to reliably force the issue to happen consistantly for people to figure out what's actually going on.
There is a bug, but it affects a minority of users, it's entirely random (as far as anyone can tell).
I agree with AC here. All this will get google to do is make a new messaging app, not fix the bug, which could lead to more errors.
