VX8400???

Here is what I find interesting.
The FCC site shows that the VX8300 was submitted on 03/03/06 and the VX8400 was submitted on 11/18/05.
However, there is no mention of the VX8400 from CITA.

The FCC site says the External Test Photos for the VX8300 will be up available on 10/14/06, and the External Test Photos for the VX8400 on 05/17/06.

These days, LG is the best at working the FCC system. If they haven't announced the 8400 by May 17, you can bet they'll get an extension on the confidentiality. They always do.

I was expecting the 8400 at CTIA, too. Since it wasn't announced, I'm guessing they don't expect to launch it until the 2nd half. That was generally their cutoff for deciding what to announce at CTIA.

If I had to take a wild guess, I would venture that the 8400 is their MediaFLO phone. Just a wild guess, though...

i'm planning on upgrading to the 8300 hopefully soon, but now i'm wondering if i shouldn't wait for the 8400?? i remember when the 8000 came out and it was great then i was replaced by the 8100 and it was way better...any predictions on what will be different better or worse? Media flo is just a different way of streaming video to your phone like vcast right??? or is it something totatly different?

I don't know enough about the 8400 to give advice either way.

First, I have no specific info that the 8400 will have MediaFLO - that was just a guess.

Yes, MediaFLO is for video, but it is optimised for live TV, which regular EVDO is not. That's why VCast offers pre-recorded clips only, not live TV. If you want to watch live TV (like breaking news as it happens, or live sports events) then you'll need MediaFLO.

Rich,

Since the VX8400 was not at CITA, what would be the next trade show that it "might" be at?
I know that the car chargers that Verizon stores have for the VX8100 also say it is for the VX8400.
Kind of weird.
