Verizon phones

This is where Verizon falls short. They have a good network but their phone quality is some of the worst I've used. I've been with several carriers and Verizon tinkers with their devices too much and cuts them short. AT&T has great devices but the media hype says their network isnt good.

Eh, choose your poison.

No, with the exception of the iPhone, ATT's selection isn't that great. And they lock down their phones quite a bit as well.

Just ask any ATT android user.

Ummm....... you realize that this article stated that there was NO RECALL right??? So what is the purpose of your post? If it was just to say that AT&T is better than Verizon, then go back to the AT&T forum. Oh yeah and have fun on your iPhone!

Truthfully, I don't think any carrier can claim to have 'better' phones that its competitors. They all get the phones from the same manufacturers...whatever carrier you go to, the phones are going to be made by Samsung, Motorola, Palm, RIM, Nokia, Sony Ericson, HTC and so on... what possible benefit can a Samsung or Motorola gain by preferring one carrier to another?

I see no reason to assume that, say, a Samsung phone for Verizon is 'better' or 'worse' than a Samsung phone for at&t. Indeed, for the most part the phones manufacturer offers for all carriers are the same, just a different name and slight variations in design.

there are a few exceptions here, but I believe that the LG CDMA phones are better than the LG GSM phones currently being made.

Actually, your mention of Samsung brings up an excellent point. Take, for instance, the Galaxy S line. Verizon's Fascinate was altered, presumable at Big Red's request, to remove Google Search and replace it with Bing. I also think that means no Google Navigation. So here's an example of a carrier interfering with a manufacturer's phone. It doesn't mean the phone itself is bad, but it sure does make it a lot less enjoyable to use.

There has been countless instances where the same phone released on different carriers are better or worse depending on who your go to.

The Touch Pro 2 is a good example Sprint cleary had the best version of this phone while tmobile had the worst and verizon crippled the heck out of there version.

Another good example timing wise is the Pre. Sprint had it first in july. Verizon claimed they would have it in 2 months. They finally got it 6mths later but it had better hardware then the Pre released 6mth earlier on Sprint and was dub the Pre+

The most current and clear Example is the GALAXY S line. Tmobile had it first then att then Sprint then Verizon. Tmobiles version does not have a flash or front facing camera or keyboard or 4g. A...

One phone might be better or worse depending on carrier meddling...

However there are thousands of people who have the frankly insane idea that manufacturers deliberately make subpar phones on purpose.

I don't think the board of directors any manufacturer sits around and says 'okay now here's our strategy: whenever we make an at&t phone, we will make sure it sucks really bad, all of our good phones will be Verizon phones'

There is simply no logic to such a decision....

The only thing that makes less sense is the people who like to believe that wireless carriers deliberately sell rotten phones, and refuse to send out firmware updates that can fix the problems because then they can force people to upgrade and sign a new two yea...

ATT does not have any high end nokia phones. And they have some really nice phones. Same with moto, they do not make a high end droid type phone for ATT. The only moto adroid phones you can get are lower end oddball desighs like the backflip and flipside.

Basically.. Bestbuy got in trouble for not following the MAP pricing that Verizon requires. In return Verizon froze their stock of the Droid 2 and the Droid Pro to teach them a lesson.

Bestbuy already had fewer models and now they are short two more!

For those that don't know what I am talking about, when new models come out for Verizon they fall into the MAP agreement that states you cannot advertise a lower price then what Verizon advertises. You can sell it cheaper but it is against our agreements to advertise that 😛
