Still too expensive. At&t Go phone offers the same $2 a day on the days used and includes text messages(international also). The pay by the minute plan is just 10 cents a minute (no daily fee also). The Go phones also come with $15-$50 credit not $10.

All of the majors offer a better prepaid product than Verizon. I'm still pretty convinced that they don't want to play in this field.

Would you if you were in their position?

In a game like wireless I'd absolutely want to be at least a little on the competitive side even on prepaid. I'm also of the mindset that contracts are going to go by way of the dinosaurs. If a company as large as Verizon is seen as uncompetitive, they could lose big time when and if this comes to pass.

Contracts will NEVER go the way of the dinosaur! 🤣 Just as people will never stop using credit.

A customer is a customer, what's better, to get a small amount of money from a customer, or to have that customer give their money to a competitor?

To have that customer go to a competitor actually. Bringing down the ARPU will have upper management on your arse quick. "A customer is a customer..." What kind of BS is that? Pure garbage! You are damned right that I would rather have a higher paying customer under contract than a pre-paid customer who is going to churn.

The pre-paid market is a rapidly expanding market which could likely become the majority of the market in the next few years, if Verizon doesn't have a foothold in that market, they are going to have some problems

I disagree. No carrier is going to subsidize pre-paid phones to such an extent that American consumers have become accustomed to with contract plans. As long as they want free phones they will sign contracts. Verizon and AT&T will both have pre-paid in their bag of tricks buy no way they want their base to depend on that segment.

The history of business is littered with the corpses of companies that thought they could dictate to their customers how things should be done

Well Verizon does have PagePlus, which is definitely one of the best deals in prepaid. Its full BYOD and can allow you to maintain a line for as little as $30/YEAR. So why should VZW try to compete with its own MVNO?

Page Plus is NOT VZW!

They are a completely different company.

Indeed. Verizon seems to think they're a premium service. I'm a Verizon subscriber. But all carriers in South Florida are excellent.

They all have their pros and cons service wise. I've found Sprint and T-mobile to provide the fewest dropped calls in my area. Again, it's all local...

My Metro service works out pretty well as well.
